Would love to know how you do the chrome nails and make it last. Mine always come off the tips and reveal the black polish underneath, even with a topcoat on top. Would love a tutorial.

mine do too! I've done a lot of research on this and tried 3 out of the 5 methods I know of that are supposed to help. first is just top coat, which chips as we know. base coat + top coat over the top may be slightly better, but still chipped a little. adding primer over the chrome totally ruined my chrome powder, but perhaps certain primers don't. the last two methods that I haven't tried is gently buffing the free edge before top coat, but for me I know this would only buff off the chrome so I don't know how people get this to work! and then of course adding a thin layer of builder gel follower by top coat is supposed to work well and personally I think this would be your best bet, give it a shot! I just redid my chrome and actually used a red colour under the red chrome which looks so gorgeous and more vibrant, so when it chips at least it will reveal red instead of black.

Thank you sm! LOL yes you noticed!! 🚫🦶 re: nails, if you find your nails are strong and you’re happy with the lasting power with regular polish, stick with it! I think it’s still gentler on the nails and skin overall. The only reason I started gel was because my polish wouldn’t last due to increased crafting and DIY. Gel can help your natural nails grow long without breaking if you’re very careful with removal and maintenance (look up “BIAB nail growth” on tiktok for example). Personally I do use BIAB/builder gel (a thicker, stronger gel) as a base on my nails to keep them long and strong, which is a common practice now. However, my nails have still broken using gel as it takes time to learn the techniques that make them last long. As I get better, I notice less issues! I think people should only use gel if they research how to do it correctly and safely - tiktok has been my best resource for that! Hope that helps 💅
