We used to make plastic bracelets at the pool ...you could wear them in the water..it's the same pattern, only the plastic is about the size of a tooth pick..and if you turn the strands on an angle you get a twisted version or a round version..but the big ribbon is very beautiful..I would never have thought of using this old method to make a wreath.

@@ISasaki It prompted me to try and make a bracelet again ..haven't made one for about 50 years..I did okay too..did the round version and wondered what a wreath would look like with that..when you cross the first lace over you just put it on the opposite side that you normally do so it turns the lace a tiny bit each time.and you get a circular pattern instead of the square.

Thank you so much for the lesson! I made this using two 4.5 m lengths of 1 cm wide metallic fabric ribbon. The finished wreath is only 9 cm wide and light enough to hang on a christmas tree. One ribbon is gold on both sides and the other is red on one side and green on the other -- so the wreath has one gold swirl and the other swirl is half red and half green. I think it is beautiful! I remember making bracelets like this as a wee child with very thin, pliable plastic tubing. The beginning was always the hardest part to get but after that it went super quick. I might have to get some ribbon and make this now. Thank you!
