Christmas Day Gifts to Myself - Decathlon Solognac Furtiv Camo Hammock Overview - Poncho Liner

On a dry Christmas morning I go for little wander in some local woodlands to show off some new gear that I have gifted to myself. I finally decided to take the plunge and buy some gear that will enable me to give some proper overnight hammock camping a go. In this video I preview my new Decathlon Solognac Furtiv Camo Hammock and a poncho liner which may possibly be converted into a DIY underquilt; the jury is still out. As well as talking about my new gear I discuss this channel, my recent exploits whilst working away from home and some future plans.

Merry Christmas (a little late) - nice gifts! So far I haven't tried out a hammock, I think I do better on the ground. Those clips look a little light weight... maybe add some extra leaves under you, just in case- lol, until you get good ones. :) I stopped looking at the analytics for YT views, performance, etc, when I saw many people only watch a couple minutes. I think they will just watch a couple minutes no matter what you do, while some people will watch more or all of the video. When I started my channel I didn't anticipate making YT friends and being able to chit chat with people, that's been the fun part for me too. :) Thanks for sharing a little of your Christmas!

Haha the leaves are a good idea; fortunately I have some real climbing carabiners on the way, a break strength of 22kN and they weren't even expensive. I'm kind of scratching my head as to why they don't just include proper ones with it. Ahh yes I know what you mean, some people have very short attention spans, but that's fine, I'm here for those few people who want to stick around and watch through; the cream always rises to the top as the saying goes. Hi Aggy! New hammock looks good👍 The description "Furtiv Camouflage" did raise a smile. It's got to be better than those shouty show-off camo types! 😁 I've given up trying to secong guess what makes the YT algorithm happy! Growth seems to stagnate once in a while and then start again for no discernible reason! Just keep doing what you do mate👍 All the best for New Year👍👍

I wondered about the name too, I just assumed maybe the meaning was slightly different in Spanish and the designers couldn't be that daft 🤷🏻‍♂️ The KZbin god's are bizarre, your channels alright though, you always have plenty of comments across your videos, lots of engagement 👍🏼👏🏼 I think that's the key . A very entertaining video mate. I've modded my Snugpak Jungle Bag so I can use it in multiple ways (one of which is a lightweight underquilt/poncho liner which works fine) Too bad Decathlon don't stock those Solognac hammocks or tarps in Australia.I'd love to get one, they look like a great piece of kit.....especially for putting babies in! Merry Christmas Aggy!!!!!🎅 Glad you got some new gear. That hammock should work well from the looks of it. I had a great Christmas with the family - if you were closer than almost half a world away I would have had you over! I too bought some Christmas presents for myself as I had a little bit of a windfall this month, and even though I have a wife and kids and grandkids who mostly get together with us like they did today to celebrate Christmas- my wife told me this year "you buy what you really want and I will give you a check for it!" After 48 years of marriage, she says it is just simpler for her to do it that way and who am I to disagree? 😁So I got some goosedown booties from Goosefeet and a summer pad for my AMOK hammock and a Senbivy bed from Senbivy (their last year's model} which is really cool. All of these businesses had huge Christmas discounts that I could take advantage of with free shipping(to the US) so I could double my "gifts". But unlike you - I will probably have to wait for a little while to get out and use them in the woods but can maybe use them this week in the backyard if it doesn't get too cold or we get too much snow. Looking forward to seeing more vids and hoping your algorithms start moving up and up.

That sounds like a great arrangement you and the wife have and a great self gift haul. I too work be keeping an eye on the sales for those last year and end of line models, I'm thinking some Leki carbon trekking poles might be on the cards.
