Too late for you now, but years ago I saw a Martha Stewart video where she created a mantle board. Cut a board the same size as mantle about 1” thick, finish it to the same color as mantle, lay board on top and go crazy with all the hooks and nails and chicken wire, garland covers the board. Remove board when season is over. Mantle is not harmed in any way.

Sue Wolfe- This s a beautiful mantle, Michelle ! I love the hanging candles. They give it a romantic vibe. Just be careful lighting the fireplace. It may be too hot for the garland that hangs down so low. It may melt or catch on fire. Your tree is beautiful, as well. Oh Michelle! I was trying to figure out what my favorite was today the tree or the mantle. So, I decided they were both my favorite! The mantle is so unique but gorgeous, I would have never thought about outting those candle in the garland like that. Then the tree is just drop dead gorgeous even without all of the picks. I love the colors you are using this year, they are are just so rich? I also love the larger candles in the tree. Thanks for all of the inspiration. 😊❤😊🎄🎄

You always decorate beautifully, but girl your mantle and 🎄 are over the top gorgeous this year! I've always heard those mantle ornaments called "teardrop" shape. I haven't had a tree for 18 years so was so excited to buy one this year. 1- I bought one at Walmart, assembled it and realized it was not the same tree or stand as the picture on the box showed, unassembled and returned it. 2-Bought one at Hobby Lobby assembled it and realized the lights were only on the very outer branches and it was so dark it looked black. 3-Bought the viral "slim" version like you have at Home Depot, assembled it and noticed a branch bracket was missing screws so it wouldn't hold up, unassembled the Hobby Lobby one AND the Home Depot one and returned them to within an hour of my prior Home Depot purchase because I knew they only had 3 left. I was in so much pain from all this, it made up for all the years of not having to deal with it, but I must say this tree took 5 minutes to assemble, no fluff, no scratchy needles. I feel ya on the ribbon issues though, I started over 5 times. There's nothing to grab on to it and you can't twist the branches. It didn't help that my ribbon was slinky satin either, but yours looks great like your ribbon always looks while mine looks like it's trying to all slide down and escape.
