My 1st car my father took me to pick it out and talked to the dealer and he made arrangements that I pay every paycheck until the car was PAID off by me! My father made good money and felt it was teaching responsibility for me to pay for my own car and insurance! After I got the car paid off my mother advertised it for sale while I was in school and sold it on me! I had to walk to school and walk to work, so I didn't lose my Job!

I came from a family that doesn’t buy a car, for the kid. But help them get into a car. Co-sign a loan etcetera. Or buy a car, but the child has to pay it back in monthly payments.

Our eldest was delivering two paper routes every morning and he was mowing lawns. The boy had $11,000 in his savings account when he was 15 years old. He wasn’t even old enough to drive in our state! He had been looking for a truck for a year - we had no idea! We did co-sign a $9,000 loan with him just to get him working on his credit. He paid that truck off in 6 months! He paved a hard road for his siblings, though. None of them got a job nor a car until they were in their 20’s! 😂
