No you need to be there. It is as safe as in any other city in any other state. Spent many days And nights there during Christmas when I lived in New Jersey. The sardine experience I welcomed it as all the sardines were in the New York and Christmas spirit that you cannot compare anywhere.

I live in East Rutherford, NJ, which is right across the Hudson River from NYC. This Christmas it was actually around 50 degrees, warmest in a long time. Usually between 10 to 40 degrees though.

I'm planning to move out from the UK (Norfolk) into NYC in the future :D with a couple of friends lol I love NY but USA has better stuff than Brit's do :( (partly why I'm hoping to move out to a different country example Comic books since you have more rarer ones and I only have ONE Comic book store in Norfolk but I'm lucky enough to actually have one close enough for me to visit lol that's somethin') hope to make new friends in Midtown Comics and get a job at a Disney Store which there is bounds to be loads glad I have patient's of saving up big stuff like moving out especially to another country hope I'm the first to move out in my family!! (and to get piece from kids :P)
