I must say... this Elk wrap with cream cheese look delicious! I'll take a double portion on behalf of Sujy :)

It's actually Moose and not Elk (I've recently learned the difference, and I think it's common for other Swedes to use them interchangeably too. We have a lot of moose in Sweden, but no elks.) Moose wraps are amazing though! My favorite meat by far :)

I remember änglamat = angelfood from my childhood. It is whipped cream + sugar + lingonberry stirred together and put in waffle cones. At our house this was usually served at christmas. P.S. I've seen other different versions of änglamat. This is our version, simple but delicious.

They have a tv-show called "allt för Sverige" - all for Sweden - where americans with ancestors in Sweden compete to meet their ancestors. Its really fun, talk english and give you the best of Sweden. :) Maybe you can watch it on youtube.

Elk with cloudberries is great, and as (northern) Swedish as you can get! Smoked reindeer heart is also good!

In Sweden, we have an elk hunt every autumn, during which about 80,000 elks are hunted to help control the elk population. Having too many elks isn't good, as it leads to competition for food and increased elk movement, which can cause traffic accidents. Then there's the question-what should be done with the meat from 80,000 elks? Throw it away??? No, in Swedish tradition, we've always made use of the meat, processing it into dishes, sausages, or smoking, aging, and tenderizing it.

Many Swedes get confused, Elk is a deer that lives in north america, there are no Elks in Europe. The confusion probably comees from that Älg sounds like Elk and not like moose
@KristoferOlssonАй бұрын
@@matshjalmarsson3008 the name for swedish Älg in Europe is Eurasian Elk in US its called Moose. (Alces alces) In US elk is a deer (Cervus canadensis)

@@KristoferOlsson Thank you for trying to lecture me. I didn't know their latin names, but I did know that Moose are sometimes called Euroasian Elk, which may make it a bit mor confusing

@@matshjalmarsson3008 I did not try to lecture you, I only corrected your part of there are no elk in Europe. The English word is Euroasian Elk the american word is Moose. Its not confusing if you are open to learn.

I agree! You usually start with cold fish, (salmon and herrings), egg and seafood courses. Then take a new plate and continue with cold meat and different sauces. The third plate used to be the warm dishes. And finally a plate with desserts and or cheese with crackers and fruit. 😋😋
