Silent Night is close to my heart. Over 30 years ago when I was mad at the world and stoned all the time. I was in the shower listening to a rock and roll station, then Silent Night came on the air. Holy Spirit showed up and I was weeping ❗ At the time I had no idea what was going on. But Silent Night has a special meaning to me ❗ God is FAITHFUL and beyond measure ❗💖

Hi! I'm a college student and I found your channel a few months ago and now it's the only music I can listen to while I study haha. I just want to say that I truly appreciate your work and the time you spend on your craft. It's a blessing to the ears, warms the heart, and stimulates the brain and I absolutely adore it. Keep up the wonderful work!

@@DanMusselman You have a wonderful Christmas as well! I was also curious as to why the piano in this video and a couple other videos that I have seen does not have broken or worn down keys? If I were to take a guess, I'd say it's because Christmas time is about the hope and fulfillment of God's promise to his people and because of that we no longer need to feel worn down or weary during a time of celebration because Jesus finally came, but I'm curious to hear your reasoning!

@@sandrahagenimana118 - Great question and thank you for noticing! You are 100% spot on. Christmas is about the beautiful hope that we find through Jesus. So, I felt it would better reflect the joy of the season to have intact pianos. :)

Pianos, unlike people, sing when you give them your every growl. They know how to dive into the pit of your stomach and harmonize with your roars when you’ve split yourself open. And when they see you, guts shining, brain pulsing, heart right there exposed in a rhythm that beats need need, need need, need need, pianos do not run. And so she plays

@Dan Mussellman Beautiful as always! I found a classical piano song I'd love to see you do something with too, I'm sure you know it! "Un suspiro" by Liszt! Let me know if you like this idea!

Just dawned on me 🤦that both those Joy carols go down stepwise full octave (at least for opening phrase)...is that why you coupled them? I realize probably coincidence. Ironic too, given upward motion more typically would be associated with upbeat emotion, or joy.
@DanMusselman6 жыл бұрын
Great catch! The similar melodic shape was definitely one of the reasons I put Joy to the World and Away in a Manger together. I admittedly wasn't thinking as much in terms of how the shape contributed to feelings of emotion, though. I was trying to tie together the "joy" of Joy to the World with the lullaby of Away in a Manger. I was aiming for peaceful, happy sleep. I'm trying to encourage positive and happy thinking before calming down to bed. :)

Dan, these arrangements reach in and grab my heart. Maybe I am a sucker for the background string mood music, or whatever it’s called, but you should always be assured of God cherishing your/His ministry and impact on listeners.
