Germany's most popular Christmas market is located right in front of the magnificent backdrop of Cologne Cathedral. Four million people enjoy the many local specialties and the unique atmosphere here every year.
A huge Christmas tree sits enthroned in the middle of Roncalliplatz. The 25 meter high red spruce is the tallest natural Christmas tree in North Rhine-Westphalia. This is decorated with balls and stars, followed by a tent of lights with around 50,000 LEDs.
Events and hands-on activities on the central stage provide entertainment . An annual highlight are the sing-along concerts "Los mer singe" with Stefan Knittler.

The brownies open their historic Christmas market in Cologne's old town. The little helpers come up with all sorts of ideas to spread the Christmas spirit in the old town.
"Heinzel's Winter's Tale" is all about the legend of the hard-working brownies. The little journeymen once did the work of the people of Cologne while they slept. With around 120 stands and a 1,800 square meter ice landscape, "Heinzel's Winter's Tale" is the largest Christmas market in the cathedral city.
On the Alter Markt, artisans show their traditional handicraft and offer their products to buy and give away. Some products are manufactured directly at the stand.
Winter sports to swing music are on the program at the Heumarkt . Here is a beautiful ice landscape with running paths across the square, lanes for curling and a bridge over the ice.
