I thought he's a humanist, so why's he even bothered about sending out a Christmas message?????? What's going on at the Áras????? Not even one mention of Jesus, which is the true meaning of Christmas This is just another global agenda speech a pat on the back for ourselves and do as i ask. Christmas is about Jesus Michael. Perhaps a few words of glory to Him wouldn't go amis.

Celebration at this time of year is a tradition older than Christianity itself. There's a reason Newgrange is lit on the winter solstice. Modern Christmas hasn't been about Jesus for centuries, 99% of our Christmas traditions have nothing to do with Christianity. Christmas is about giving and family and everyone, religious or not, should be allowed to celebrate it.

@conalllynch7840 you are so deluded. Let me educate you. Christmas is the birthday of Jesus Christ it only started about 2000 years ago. When CHRISTians "look at the name" began to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus CHRIST. Now why do we give? It's to emulate the greatest gift that God ever gave humanity, his only Son Jesus. Other religions don't celebrate Jesus Christ at Christmas because they don't believe in Him, and they do't knowHim. Yes, they party, but they don't honour Jesus. If you want to get to know Jesus Christ, read the Bible with an open mind and then make an educated assessment of what CHRISTmas is all about. Jesus Christ came to earth to save humanity from the pits of hell. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes will be saved and will not perish. If you believe that, great if you don't, my heart breaks for you because the alternative to heaven is hell and separation from God for eternity. God bless you.

Christmas has nothing to do with Newgrange or vica verca. Christmas is just under 2000 years old. Its purpose is for Christians to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Everybody celebrates it, but only Christians honour Jesus. It's a Christian event for followers of Jesus, primarily. It's not a Muslim, Buddhist, or any other religious group festival. The reason we give at Christmas is to emulate the greatest gift God gave humanity, his Son Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. It's all about Jesus. Make it about anything else it's not Christmas. You're celebrating.
