This might have been a case for Isopropyl...as a disinfectant

The good news is your chassis doesn't seem to have been dropped and all bent out of shape. I only see a slight bend in the rear mounting flange that can be straightened out. It would be nice if you have access to one of those power jet blasting booths that use high pressure water to clean the chassis. Perhaps even a regular power washer would work.

Well, you're now past the worst of it. Out of curiosity, I looked over the schematic for this amp; it's clear that Fender was trying to cut corners wherever they could. Since you're going to fabricate a new board, you can easily address many of the shortcomings of their initial design (V1B and V2B cathodes connected?). I'm looking forward to seeing how you plan to do that. Enjoy your holidays.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with connecting the cathodes on a tube amp. Fender did it to save a few cents on a resistor , it may make sense from a business standpoint when you’re building thousands of amplifiers . Separating them and adding their own resistor and capacitor doesn’t make the amp any better.

I think I would have doubled gloved for that job! Avoiding Leptospirosis is a priority!

How does a mouse get into a chassis to poop and wee? It must have been lying out by itself in a basement.

From what I understand, the chassis was stored separately from the cabinet

Great start. Once you’ve cleaned and straightened out the chassis the fun of rebuilding that old. Bassman can begin. How long did the strip down actually take? It obviously took longer than the video.

Think it was about 40mins 👍

@@RiftAmps That’s pretty good going, I thought it would have taken much longer.

It says something for my constitution that I can watch this while eating Xmas buffet.... The scratch and sniff card doesn't do it justice!

Really enjoy these sorts of videos. It’s like Brads Guitar Garage but with the swearing or use of the word schmoo

Thanks for posting these interesting videos, a nice pastime for holiday watching. Don’t know why but I really enjoy seeing amps in bad shape being stripped down. Was wondering why you started desoldering at first then switched to clipping wires soon after? I thought you wanted to keep some of those transformer wires as long as possible? Cheers, JJ

To paraphrase a slogan daubed on the side of a very dirty white van “I wish my wife was a filthy as this amp”, Chris you are doing incredible work here and can’t wait to see your progress.

I don't know if you buy or build your turret boards, but I would briefly entertain the idea of buying a Twin Reverb board, or otherwise the longest Fender board out there that will fit, or, filling some blank spaces with room for say ten more Res or caps if you ever want to hot rod the thing. [ It's what we Yanks do, we wanna throw a Chevy 350 engine in there ] My poor SF Princeton reverb amp which burned up in a fire (BUILDING fire, not amp fire!) I added a single triode stage, just like V1 or V2 in any Fender amp with a volume pot and got an exceptionally nasty pre and post gain arrangement out of it. I am assuming it is not your prime directive to restore this to bone stock and enter beauty contests with it.
