Christmas The Way It Was

A 1978 documentary describing Christmas the way it was in the late 1930's and the 1940's in Ireland. The short film is presented by John B. Keane and features a host of actors and musicians from the Lisselton / Ballydonoghue Comhaltas Branch area of North Kerry.

Having lived in Listowel for a while in the Mid-70s. I had many a pint in John's Pub enjoying his entertaining conversation and stories. Listening to him speak, he could almost make you feel like you had experienced the time yourself. A pleasure in life to have been his company

I know how you feel, I get the same for my grandparents generation who would have been kids and young adults in the 30s and 40s, I remember my granny pushing me around in the buggy down "meet street" and Thomas Street and the real old dublin accents that are almost gone now, it's sad to see that go
