Don was one of my instructors at Brown Insitute In Ft LAUDERDALE back in 1975 when I obtain my FCC FIRST CLASS LICENSE and communications instructions. Was truly a wonderful man

If this is how AM Radio was in the 60's, it sure is a hell of a lot cleaner than AM radio is today. This is almost "FM like", very clean and clear. I wish AM radio was this clean now. Now theres so much static and its so low fi , its barely listenable.

We agree the sound on Don's recordings is surprisingly good. He recorded straight to a reel-to-reel player while he was on air. So, these are actually the R2R tapes instead of from the original AM signal. It's nice that they have held up so well after 50+ years of storage!

Yeah this was definitely taped in the studio. No AM signal would be this quiet or even reach this kind of audio bandwidth. Very cool though!

Great air check, thanks for uploading. I used to work for KSTP-TV back in 1980 and I knew most of the guys in the AM and FM studios but I don't remember if I had met Don. My memory isn't very good these days.

Jingle was based on "The Sound of the City," as was the music behind the club calendar at 10:46. This music was most identified with KSFO San Francisco, but was used by other stations like KVI Seattle, KOGO San Diego, KOH Reno and KPRC Houston.
