The Man who lives on Ilan mor that Christo is talking about is my Uncle Paddy Walsh who has pretty much lived there all his life ! But I had Great adventures on that island travelling over from London for my Summer holidays as a kid ! I'm 48 now and it's a shame there never was any investment for a road or bridge connecting many of the islands As I think maybe Tourism would have been a lifeblood for these islands as I never felt freedom like it as a kid ! Great memories 👌 ❤

My Great Grandmother was from Illaunmore and a Walsh also. We had always spelled in Welch. Great little video. I can't wait to get back. We miss Rosmuc

@@markconnolly4135 Hi Mark , yeah if I remember correctly my Uncle Paddy used to take us across to Ruscheadia to visit a Family of Connollys when we were young ? Please forgive my spellings

@@markconnolly4135 Hello Mark my Uncle Paddy used to row us across to Ruscheadia , so if you were walking across on the corra (tidepath) from the mainland Ruscheadia would be across the bay on your left ! That's were the Connolly family lived ! My Uncle Paddy is the last inhabitant on the island now but its a shame there were never any bridges or tidal roads installed

He is my mother's 2nd cousin . I visited him back in June when I was on the island.

My G Grandfather was a Walsh and came from that island as well. Have been on it myself a few times.

Those dry stone walls are pretty impressive. And it’s interesting to note that the school population is going down here too at least in my part of southern Ontario.

That's the truth about the generations. we can count generations to events from the past then they don't seem so distant in time . Dates in a history book look far away but count them in generations you'll see that in a different way. Many Irish emigrants like me would love to return to Ireland and live a normal self sufficient working farming life with family friends neighbours and community. It could be done and should be done
