You can NEVER reconcile people by pointing to their fault. - Dr Abel Damina This is why we preach the word of reconciliation ie Gospel of Christ and not confession of sin. What a merciful and loving God we have.

*CHRISTOCENTRIC MEAL* *DR ABEL DAMINA* *MONDAY MARCH 28, 2022* *UNDERSTANDING THE OLD AND NEW COVENANTS IN CHRIST (7)* Hebrews 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. Observe that he calls the Old Covenant the first covenant. He also used the word, “Faultless.” The word ‘faultless’ above does not mean faulty. To understand what faultless in verse 7 means, we need to read verse 8. Hebrews 8:8 For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: It is a covenant that exposes sin. The use of the Old Testament was to find fault. Every time you read it on its own, it will find fault. Having found the faults, there is a need for a second. The second will not find fault, not by reason of choice, but by the reason of the blood of Christ. It won’t find fault. Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. The Old Testament finds fault. The new covenant does not find faults. Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: Vs 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. They shall all know me, that is, they shall have my revelation. From the least to the greatest. Verse 12 says FOR I WILL BE MERCIFUL... FOR I will be merciful. For means because. In other words, he says that remission and forgiveness of sins is the door of revelation. We will have access to God because he will be merciful to our unrighteousness. God forgives us so that we can know him Sins will never allow a man know God’s character. That is why the Old Testament seems to be full of contradictions concerning the nature and character of God because it was written by men under a consciousness of sin. In the new covenant, we have the consciousness of the blood of Christ. Remission produces a relationship. It produces a revelation. They shall all know me. How do we know him? In his son. In Christ we know him. The Old Testament looks for faults. In the New Covenant, all those sins were put on Christ. The Old Covenant did its work in pointing out sin. The New Covenant put all those sins on the lamb of God we thus will only see Christ, who is now the Passover of all the sins that were under that old covenant. The Old Covenant did its work. It was to stipulate the sins of humanity. The New Covenant is to put it on Jesus. The New covenant is the fulfilment of the Old. Jesus bore all the sins that the Old Testament pointed out. The new covenant looks out for Jesus. It doesn’t find fault because of Jesus. The faults that the Old Testament pointed out have been put on Jesus. You cannot apply the two covenants together. The old covenant is to condemn. The new covenant places them all on Jesus. The Old covenant is not to justify. The Old Testament is to condemn. No one can be justified by the law. In the Old covenant, they knew God by the medium of the prophets. In the New Testament, we know God, from the least to the greatest. We have access to revelation because of remission of sins. As we study, we will see what is the use of the book of Genesis, seeing that it is not the Old Testament. You will discover that there were people in the Old Testament era that practiced the New Testament. They without us were not made perfect Hebrews 11:1 In the New Testament, faith refers to the finished work of Christ, what has been done and perfected in Christ. Jesus gives us the perfect revelation of the father. You don’t know the father through Moses. You know him through the son, who is the perfect imprint of the father. CONFESSION: I acknowledge that I have the consciousness of the blood of Christ. I have the revelation of the Father in Christ. He is my father and I am his child. It’s a new covenant!

Cross testamental application of the two covenants is one of the major problem in several messages preached. Old covenant finds fault, while the new puts the fault on Christ, even the fault of the old covenant was also put on Christ.

The old covenant is like the police officers that are out there constantly looking for those who break the law of the land and make sure that the just recompense is meted to the accused. But with the new covenant it is the Holy Spirit that is there to always remind us of what Christ has done and all the free benefits we have in Christ.
