As a former film critic, I had the pleasure of interviewing Christopher for "The Blue Lagoon." Polite, intelligent and humble, Christopher Atkins impressed me as a young actor with lots of potential.

I remember when the movie came out and I decided to not watch it because I knew it would make me feel bad about being overweight and not having a lot of girlfriends. But over the years as I’ve watched my kids grow up, I’ve realized that our bodies are temporary, but who we are carries on forever.

Different time Different era even when you showed your butt then it was frowned upon in those days ,and I'm 55 I watched it back in those days when it first hit the theatre's and then the TV screens it was like woah and only because of that time and era but seeing it today it's like nothing could be as bad as the things we see on TV and theaters today. The mother was a selfish alcoholic and simply used her daughter to do whatever needed doing, to earn the money that paid the bills... Brooke must have been born with boundless inner strength of character and resilience, (besides her obvious exceptional beauty) to have survived the toxic Hollywood machine and not end up a drug addicted mess!

I remember my mom went to the Playboy mansion for a charity event in the mid/late 80s when I was a little kid . She said there were a lot of celebs there . She had gone swimming and was changing in the changing rooms and her friend knocked on the changing room door and had Christopher Atkins with her lol . My mom wasn't comfortable walking up to celebs like that , so her friend asked him to take a pic with my mom and he did lol . I still have the picture somewhere Lol

Looking back on this film through the lenses of today you can imagine that the environment was likely full of perverted individuals. While at the same time you understand the directors view. These young people grew up together on this island alone with absolutely no adult interaction or supervision. With They’re innocence still intact and how their interactions would develop from childhood onward.

The original Blue Lagoon of 1946 was said to leave out a lot of then-controversial parts of the book regarding intimacy and nudity or semi-nudity or such related factors. The one made years after with Brooke Shields did very much the opposite and stayed truer to the storyline because the movie makers wanted it to be more risqué and thus get more of an audience because of the controversy.

I was 15 in the 70s I never saw anything wrong with nudity. Male nudity. As a male I see nothing wrong with it. I was 9 yrs old and was my dad naked. I was fascinated with the size and hair. I thought it was great. Throughout my life I loved nudity. I was and I am well built male. We have a full nude showing all on canvas. The picture was printed on canvas at Walmart. It's hanging in our family room. Men and women of all age's should be proud of being naked. I have visited nude beaches and enjoyed the beauty of men and women nude.My son was raised not to be ashamed of nudity. He learned theirs a time and place for nudity. My sin has seen me naked Throughout the yrs of growing up. My son is a well adapted educated adult. I'm a successful man and my wife is educated and successful. We are a normal upper middle class family. ❤
