I love how hitchens jsut sits there and looks like he has a bad hangover, than he is asked a questen and he gives brilliant answers and inside knowlege with his hangover face. This guy right there is the ultimate pwnage machine. Don´t believe me, watch some other videos in which he is arguing with people.

Some months ago I had a conversation with an Iranian American (who'd been to iran on a few occasions) about this. He said that, while the aforementioned young group didn't share the sentiments of the regime, they only wanted friendship with the US as some kind of trade partnership or something.

I don't think that history will be kinder to Bush, but for the wrong reasons. When it came to foreign policy, he was as good as one can expect him to be, no one will ever have a perfect foreign policy. Though when it comes to the Patriot Act and crap like it, that's where Bush needs to be criticised, and yet history isn't tough enough on him for it,.

@Seigu007 I am an Objectivist. That requires that I am also an atheist. That makes me a threat to snake worshipers, fundamentalist Muslims or Christians and very any other believer that pretends to know the unknowable.

@fzqlcs That is what I like about Hitchens, he's able to think clearly and thoroughly.

@vrghiks The mind is a terrible thing to waste. Those who put faith (belief in that for which there is no evidence) above reason (that for which there is evidence) commit their lives to doing just that. The pious may revel in their ignorance, but, in reality, they die no wiser than they began. Hitchens, like Ayn Rand, is a fine example for his fellow man.

I would argue radical anything is nearly always about self sacrifice. Radical christians also have the concept of giving up your life for the religion. You're right about Iran though, if they get a nuke then there's a worrying chance they would use it, or threaten everyone around them to get their way. The problem is Iran needs nuclear energy, we don't have a right to deny them that. How do you give a country nuclear energy without the danger of them developing weapons?

@Nadnerb765 I don't follow, I am not entirely sure if I can agree that he is a laughing stock, but where did you get the idea that he views himself as a "risk commander"? I hardly think he views the war going on as a strategic board game. And even if he did, he would not be much different from most other military high ranking officers in the world, they HAVE to view their soldiers as a resource and not human beings, otherwise, the forces would not be sent out to do anything at all.

You allow reputable nuclear inspectors on the ground, with all access to suspect sites & making regulation checks, but the Iranian theocratic regime has made nonsense of the U.N non-prolitharation treaty by not allowing any U.N inspectors in.

secular Iranians would be washed up by a wave of nationalism in Iran if the west attacked militarily. Also, Hitchens doesn't represent England, he is a US citizen.

Iran has not bothered her neighboring nations for the past 900 years.So,on papers Iranians(Persians) is a peaceful nation and can be trusted with Nuclear weapon.Unlike both Unites States and Israel who constantly were active involving in wars all over the place for the past 5o years,Iran had always been defensive in their approach towards others(Iran-Iraq war)Iran -Iraq war had revealed that Iran is more powerful than what most people anticipated.She produces her own weapons .
@RiquinhoNojento13 жыл бұрын
Frankly? Iran should have nukes to protect themselves. Their neighbors were recently attacked by the invading forces of NATO, which btw has nukes.

Was Christopher Hitchens supporting George Bush or not? You can't be a Bush supporter and be pro-liberty, thats contradicting.
@fzqlcs14 жыл бұрын
you would be right if talking about rational leaders. but, religious fanatics don't care if they "lose." That is what self-sacrifice is. That is what radical Islam is. It is an ideology of suicide. Hitchens exhibits a degree of sophistication and understanding seldom seen in discussions of this type.

Show me a man that doesn't believe God and I'll show you a man out of his mind. When Jesus touches anyone,it will put them into their right mind. Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.Luke 8:35

So you can't respond to specific facts. So you just have some unspecific, abstract opinions based on - nothing. So you babble about definitions without defining anything. Who cares?
