Hitch was such a brilliant, witty orator. He pulled relevant quotes out of thin air often and came up with his own brilliancies in nearly every debate or speech. I am so thankful for the Internet so that we can continue to see him and to have his particular brilliance shared with future generations.
@tommonk76517 жыл бұрын
I disagreed with him for his support of the Iraq War, but he primarily turned his attention to the fight against theism the last 10-15 years of his life. In that fight, he was correct and earned my admiration. Hitch was blinded by the friendships he had in Iraq, Iran and other places. He was not perfect, but I don't expect people to be perfect. Did he lie about theism? Did he lie about Mother Theresa? On these and many other subjects, Hitch spoke the truth.

Youre not a Christian if you dont. So kind of you to want others to suffer forever so you can be special and go to Heaven. All we non believers have to do is surrender, capitulate entirely, to someone who never made themself known to us. Ill have no trouble believing in your space-dwelling zombie-jew god-king if he ever takes time out of his busy schedule doing fuck from all for anyone to make a single divine showing. @TheYopogo9 жыл бұрын
There are a very small number of pockets of rising complexity, our brains would be the foremost example of that that we're aware of, but if you were to average it out over the whole universe then entropy and disorder is increasing. Take our solar system, just to illustrate the point. Yes, there is the rising complexity of life, but all life depends for it's survival, and for its fight against entropic decay, upon either geo-thermal energy, that is the slow leaking of heat from the inside of the earth into the exterior, or the light of the sun which can only be produced by the expulsion of vast amounts of energy and plasma from the magnificent nuclear explosion that is the sun into the void of inter stellar space. The only way structure can form and entropy can decrease in a system is if it is balanced out and then some by another process in another system that it's in contact with

Great Author, Great debater, Great intellectual thinker and Greatly courageous to speak so openly and honestly on a topic that gets him death threats. I can go deeper into how I think he is great in other ways, but I'm done with you.

lol. Ad hominem comments on KZbin - how unique and original of you. I don't worship anyone, and I think my comments are abundantly clear - I'm a huge fan of Hitchens. But I would still be better of worshiping Hitchens than being some self righteous condescending prick on KZbin - just another unoriginal sheep. But people like you are pretty much all the same. Smart behind a keyboard - cowards in life. You are a cliche. Ask yourself why you care so much about who you think I worship? But I'll give you a gift, I'll let you reply and even get the last word in. Have at it.

"It's just that I have to think about it a bit more"...great way to think about it. We all have it coming. Getting sick just pushes it in your mind a bit more.

Dez, truth is always hopeful. We're all dying, Hitch lived and died with truth as his comfort. An amazing thinker gone too soon but, departed with great dignity...

+jmm1000 lol so Hitch did not apply that to religious belivers especially Muslims - the guy was a fucktard spouting off - accept it anyone siding with neo cons in America is highly dubious
@jmm10008 жыл бұрын
+dante ferno - he sided with evidence, not desert stories told by ignorant, superstitious rapists and murderers. Anyone siding with Islam is highly dubious, and he was too smart to.

+jmm1000 sided with NON existent evidence - even Trump has revealed that to almost everyone now - stop defending the fuckwit - he was loudmouthed racist sellout

“I am dying but so are you”. This answer is sincere but is screams of hopelessness. It renders life meaningless but life has meaning. It can only be found in The Lord Jesus Christ. He came that we may have life and have it to the fullest.

And thus we arrive at the cusp of the matter. Words are weapons. We each of us will do well to hone their edges. English words are the sharpest. I salute you're ability to converse in another tongue for it is greater than my own.

He is right too, in practicality believers and non-believers can get along just fine. Its the people who do things because NOW demands it! because NOW is the moment, they are the real heroes of the human race, not the people thinking posthumously or about posterity.

And I hope when I meet the oblivion we all inevitably face that I can be at peace with the end of my existence in the same way Hitchens was. All admiration and respect for the memory of Hitchens.

Living forever is infinitely worse than oblivion. Oblivion is much more comforting to people who take time to think about the prospect of living forever. Inevitable boredom, insanity, the inability to ever leave and finally rest. Ever since I've been an atheist, I haven't been afraid of death. It's to be expected, frankly. I'm delighted to know that when my time comes, I'll not be forced to stay. An afterlife is always a hell.
