I saw Christopher Robin and I really enjoyed it so much, it was nostalgia for me, Ewan was magnificent as Christopher, he brought that element where you just want to root for him. Hayley was splendid as Evelyn and Bronte was adorable as Madeleine but bringing back Jim Cummings as Pooh/Tigger just filled my heart with joy.

Hi and welcome back. Really glad to have you back on you tube reviewing films for us in your great way that you do. In regards to Christopher Robin - I saw it at a packed showing on Friday (Even a baby was present - but that's another, annoying issue!) and I have to say I loved it. I should be clear I am a 56 year old but so it seemed to me did the kids in the audience. I am amazed that how many reviewers are reading so much in to this film. For me its simply a great family movie and that's it, yet you (Brilliantly) ref Terrence Malick and Robbi on Wittertainment on Friday referenced "The last temptation of Christ" in his review. Maybe I am missing something but honestly, all I saw was a delightful family movie that took me out of the real world for a while and totally entertained me. Can't wait for the next video...

Sometimes all we need is a movie to take us out of the real world for a while!

@@ThatDarnMovieShow absolutely. That's why I love cinema. Every time the lights go down its like Dorothy opening the door to Oz. (the first film o ever saw at the cinema!) Oz can be bright, dark, fun and scary. Keep the blogs coming

I enjoyed Christopher Robin much more than I thought I would. I didn’t grow up with Winnie the Pooh so don’t really have any nostalgia for it and without that I thought it would just be a run-of-the-mill family film targeted mainly at kids. But I think you’ve nailed it - this film appeals much more to the adult who can relate to Christopher’s loss of innocence than the child who enjoys cuddly toys and slapstick humour. I happen to love both cuddly toys and slapstick humour while also being able to relate to Christopher’s situation so this film worked for me on multiple levels. Also I’ve now realised that pairing a character who has lost all of their innocence with a character who is nothing but innocent is a surefire way to make me super emotional and this film does not hold back in delivering those kinds of scenes.

That's a great point about Pooh, he's like all the innocence Christopher lost bundled up into one little bear

Was sitting on the fence about seeing this but you've convinced me Clarisse! Think I was worried about it being cheap nostalgia exploitation - but I'm definitely more on board for melancholic nostalgia exploitation!

Any plans to review BlackKklansman at all?

Argh, I feel like I might have missed the boat on that one. Been trying to keep up to date with releases but maybe I'll find time to upload something.

Sure, no pressure. I'd just be interested to get your take on it, and I'm sure a lot of other folks on here would too, but it needn't have to be super in-line with it being in cinemas.

Thank you for such an insightful and nuanced review. I had no idea the project had attracted those particular screenwriters. Evelyn's role sounds like a small detail which has a great impact. I am glad you chose to examine it. It does certainly sound like a film worth viewing. I, however, am governed by that aching, remembrance-of-things-past, type of nostalgia more than I care to admit. I'm not sure I should see this at the cinema. It sounds too reminiscent of Inside Out, which was simply devastating.

Thank you so much! I think the effect is a little more subtle & less immediately tearjerking than Inside Out, which kind of destroyed me :/! So you might be OK?
@rachael56226 жыл бұрын
Oh it destroyed me, too. So much so that sobbing in such a public forum seemed like nothing. Nothing compared to knowledge of the bittersweet pain of the adult world. Anyyyyway... Yes, it sounds like I will be okay! Thanks, C-lou!
