I had the same hope you did when Emily came over to Lorelai’s and saw Luke working on his boat in her garage. It was such a deflating moment when you truly realize Emily does not give a single shit about her daughter’s happiness-she only cares if Lorelai’s happy on Emily’s terms.

This was a drama filled episode. Stupid Chris acting a fool!!! Lor should have told Luke about their hang out earlier but I was glad when she told him at the wedding. Chris trying to stir drama up was so annoying and then telling her in front of Luke that Luke was just "For now" was so wrong. I also don't blame Lor for telling her mom they are done! Its what Emily deserves for trying to get in the middle of her love life. Logan saying he felt like he was kissing a guy was so dumb and so rude??? But at least he came around by the end of it. Don't believe Rory at ALL when she says shes fine with no strings lol.

I mean, she IS, but I don't think she's actually coming at Rory for making out during the vow renewal. Under any other circumstances, she'd probably be proud, a la back in season 3 when Rory went to her first cop-raided party... She was just already stressed about the whole Luke/Chris situation and took it out on Rory. Doesn't make her any less wrong, of course. 😂

Rory made out with Logan at her grandparents' party when Logan came to the party with another girl. Just because he's not in a relationship with that girl doesn't mean he should sneak off to a private room and make out with Rory. It's rude, on both their parts. Plus, how far would they have gone had they not been interrupted? It's just rude and crude, especially at a party her grandparents are throwing -- Richard and Emily would not have been pleased with her doing that, because it affects their reputations and because it's not the place to do something like that. (Not that Richard and Emily are particularly stellar in this episode, given what Emily did, getting Christopher to show up and make a mess of things, but still... it is their party and the Rory I liked from all the seasons previous would never have done what she's been doing. I think they messed up her character just to force such moments. Plus, you'd think she would have learned after the messy mistake she made with Dean and been a little more cautious.) I wouldn't have minded if they'd just kissed briefly, but they went way beyond that. I will say, Rory looks fantastic in that suit, though. 😊

And then Lorelai makes jokes and invalidates Rory's feelings when Rory "wasn't pleased". I'm not a huge fan of the way Rogan's first kiss happened either, but the what's ridiculous is the hypocritical standard Rory's held to

@@2029-jo Oh absolutely. I felt really annoyed with Lorelai back in those seasons too. She seemed so clueless to how her behavior would affect her daughter (and her daughter's imminent struggle to deal with classmates finding out, which was just the worst -- damn it, Paris). I think we're just used to Rory being the more responsible one, maybe? So when she did something like this, I was like WTF? That's not Rory. (Which is why I hated her having an affair with Dean, too. Because it felt out of character for her not to realize how bad a choice like that would be. Again, it felt like the writing forcing characters to be something they're usually not, just to force a plot point or something.)

The tapping the glass with a eating utensils is a wedding tradition to get the bride and groom to kiss. It started with clinking glasses together like a “cheers” and is adapted to tapping on the glass with a utensil. It’s origins are medieval where a host would test the wine served to guests by pouring a little into their own cup and drinking as proof of non-poison, if the guest trusted you they would clink the cup instead. Definitely not a “rich white” tradition. Some have adapted even more and made games out of it as a way to avoid PDA so much. I kind of dislike how they sort of rewrite Lorelai and Christopher’s history/past. He did not run out of them, she ran out with the baby on him. He did not avoid them, she purposely left him out. Then suddenly he is the bad guy that keeps leaving? No. He left once when Sherry was pregnant and he did not want to abandon her or the new addition so left Sukki and Jackson’s wedding out of feeling obligated to stay with Sherry. Hell he was willing to give up his dreams for Lorelai and Rory but Lorelai wouldn’t let him.

No, that's not exactly true either. We don't really know if Chris was still around when Lorelai moved to SH. Lorelai ran away from her parents but there is never any indication that she was keeping Chris from Rory. Lorelai actually says she's always left that door open. And he moved to California at some point and continuously changed his phone number and didn't let them know. Not exactly like he's trying to be involved. Chris actually makes excuses for not being involved by saying Rory and Lorelai had such a great relationship. What a load of crap!

In the first episode we see Christopher in, Rory is hoping maybe he’s changed and will be around more, so I don’t think it’s a retcon that he wasn’t around. He was not even calling that often. It’s true he wanted to marry Lorelai when she was pregnant, but he wasn’t involved much after that. If he could be with Lorelei, he would be there, but they weren’t together, so he wasn’t. That may be his string of bad jobs and failures, but he wasn’t there that much.

I have to address the titling of this episode, "CHRISTOPHER RUINED IT ALL!" Really??? Seems like there were other people involved in this debacle. Though this was FAR from Chris' finest moment, he was the bullet, but Emily was the one who aimed and shot the gun. Emily manipulated the situation into being. Also, putting aside Rory's bizarrely timed make out session with jerk Logan, Rory told Lorelai not to tell Luke about going over to Christopher's place after his dad died... and Lorelai made the stupid decision to listen to her. Lorelai should have told him, but here's the thing, it was still totally okay for Lorelai to console Chris, because he's the father of her child, and they've been close since they were children. They get each other. They understand each other better than anyone else, including Luke. She's literally the one person in Christopher's life that would understand the complexity and pain of his relationship with his father. But here's the thing, though I was so mad at Emily when I first watched this episode because she took advantage of Chris' vulnerability, knowing he's always loved Lorelai, and she exploited that vulnerability, Emily was right about Luke. He will hold Lorelai back, because sometimes Luke is a toxic man-child who Lorelai will repeatedly walk on eggshells around and not do things she wants to do because she's afraid of how Luke will react. She gives up things she wants because of Luke. Oh, and without getting spoilery, Luke is a hypocrite because he's okay with doing things he criticizes Lorelai for. Back in the day, I originally shipped Luke and Lorelai, but this is such a toxic, sometimes emotionally abusive, relationship with a guy who has anger management issues and who can become extremely petty and nasty to Lorelai when he riled. He's worse than Ross from "Friends" when it comes to toxicity and pettiness. Just think back to how belligerent Luke became when he saw Lorelai wearing his ex-girlfriend's jacket that he GAVE AWAY, and think about when Jess first came and she was a good friend trying to warn him about Jess, and he took that nasty, cheep shot about her getting pregnant at 16. Luke is physically and verbally abusive to a lot of people on the show, and just because he doesn't physically abuse Lorelai doesn't mean he's a good guy to have a relationship with. He's a guy with a ton of red flags that no one should date. Think about their first kiss, moments earlier, Luke was yelling at Lorelai because he thought she was still dating Jason/Digger. Instead of acting like an adult, and saying "Hey, did I read the signals wrong? I thought we were taking our relationship to the next level, but this guy told me that you're dating him. So, what's going on?" Luke berates her without getting the facts from her. Also, what if she had gotten back with Jason? Yelling at someone like a tantruming toddler because he isn't getting what he wants and thinks he's entitled to have, because he's such the 'nice guy' to them doesn't speak of someone that's good to have a romantic relationship with anyway. Luke is NOT the awesome perfect guy GG fandom likes to think, and Christopher is not the devil that GG fandom likes to paint him as.
