Up close outside it sounded really good. At a distance it needed more oomph, but pretty solid for 40 bucks! Nice review.

Thank you for the 360 degree aspect because there are not enough people speaking to that aspect on these mics. I think that really matters and helped me with my purchase decision.
@JonahSonner6 жыл бұрын
When you were outside it actually sounded halfway decent! It looks like you have to get really close for it to have a decent level though... Looks like it's a good fit for handheld bloggers, etc. Keep in mind that the microphone isn't everything, the mic pre-amp (basically what you're recording to) has huge role as well. Recording to a phone or camera just won't get you the same quality as a stand alone recorder. In my experiences, cheaper microphones can sound incredible when you pair it with a good recorder.

+Jonah Sonner I just got the tascam dr-40 and am hoping to step my audio game up in general.

Christopher Burress Nice man! Look into the Samson C02 for starters. I believe it sits at $80 and does a darned good job for the price. Curtis Judd has a great video comparing 5 different pencil condensers, including the C02, and I'd recommend checking that out too. Stay away from a shotgun like the NTG2/3. You'll have nightmares recording in that room with those microphones.
@ChristopherBurress6 жыл бұрын
+Jonah Sonner thanks! I'll look into it! I have actually been super impressed with the built in Mics, I'm gonna start with that and see how the response is.

If you're going to use it with an iPhone, make sure to get a TRS to TRRS (CTIA standard) adapter. You'll also need the TRRS to Lighting adapter as well. Note, there are actually two different TRRS standards (Just gotta love those electrical engineers...) so make sure the TRS to TRRS adapter states it will work with an iPhone. I pulled my hair out trying to get this mic to work with my iPhone until I figured this out.

I am interested to get a hold of this product. I picked it up for $35.40 shipped. I have learned it is really dependent on if your camera has the ability to tweak the audio setting's to match the microphone your using. If you have an older camera it's worth checking that your firmware is up to date. IDK with some oversees, almost copy cat, competitors I have had to take the product apart and "quality-up"" the workmanship a bit. Thank's for taking the time to actually take the product out and walk with it a bit.

you've probably figured it out by now, but to put on the dead cat, take off the original (sleeve, cover, black mesh) whatever you call it. Then you can slide in the dead cat
@ChristopherBurress6 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of loose room and the dead cat slides right off. There is also some adhesive mesh that peels off if you remove the original cover.....

Sounds like a faulty mic. Maybe check your volume level to make sure that it is not too high/low, then make sure you put a fresh battery in.
