Christy's a great pilot! You can see it in her eyes. But watching this it seems like their speeds were close to minimums.. I have a request - Because I can't yet do it.. - Do a Nebraska Sandhills flyover film!! Maybe that's something for Josh but it's absolutely majestic!!

Thanks for the history notes about the airfield. The Cherokee is a great plane!

Thank you. I especially enjoyed this segment since I fly a Cherokee (1967) and also worked for a Dallas based (later Houston based) offshore driller that had several rigs based in the North Sea that operated out of Aberdeen. I use my Cherokee to commute between F46 east of Dallas and MEZ in western Arkansas.

We did a full runup and preflight, the video was edited heavily for time. I’m sure no one wants to see me do a mag check for the 3,000th time. 😂

@@pilotchristy You guys are doing a great job spreading the word about safety; I bet you checked the free movement of the flight controls; Just let me focus on the matter based on the fatal accident of Dale "Snort" Snortgrass ; the NTSB found that he did not do it , so the "why" question is still unclear. *Thank you for being so kind to respond to my comment* !

Although I live in Texas, I married and lived in France for quite a long time. So from my hanger home at DHW, Houston, to Yvrac, Bordeaux flying club, I fly both places every year almost since 1984. This year, I flew in Gran Canaria as well in a Nice 172sp.

I'm guessing the term Orbit is not common in the US based on Christy's confusion. We often use orbit but also I've heard 360 used as well.
@TakingOff2 жыл бұрын
Orbit is a foreign term for us Americans.
@keithrickson85222 жыл бұрын
I am an American and I know the term, but just because I flew in Australia for a few years. It was a bit of a shock for me just to be able to communicate with other pilots, dumb little words like that would trip me up.
@glennwatson2 жыл бұрын
@@keithrickson8522 I'm Australian, how did you find the rules differences between the US and Australia, I'm about to make a trip and plan to get a little flying in when I come ot the US. I know a couple little things we do different, mid-crosswind joins rather than 45 degree downwind, oblique base joins, "flight planned route" rather than "as filed", no left/right on CTAF for circuit directions, upwind is the same as the departure leg. Anything else that's obvious?
@keithrickson85222 жыл бұрын
@@glennwatson Hey nice to talk to an Aussie pilot! See that's what I'm talking about. It's not really one thing here or there, it's like a whole different world, especially when I got into the regs, IFR and commercial stuff, it just felt like I was in way over my head and almost needed to start from scratch. If I was you, I would fly with an instructor as much as possible when you're here until you feel comfortable. I can fly a plane any day, but communication and regulation was really hard to get up to speed on.
@igclapp2 жыл бұрын
I've heard it used in the US, and I wouldn't hesitate to use it there myself, though I think it's more commonly said by helicopter pilots.
