Every time I hear this it reminds me of myself in my young days, I wasn't a lost child but I was definitely a free spirit. The thought of settling down and having children was definitely not on my agenda .... until late thirties, then I thought ... maybe I should .. the body clock is ticking. Age 40, I met who became my husband .. he was 26 🙂 ... and at age 43 I was married with a baby and don't regret a thing !!! I'm 77 now, my daughter is 34 and couldn't imagine life without her. Husband is history 😁

Best birthday gift EVER, night of my 40th birthday I went to see him at the Sage in Gateshead. I’d posted on a forum a few weeks before that it was my birthday and that I loved Reel in the flickering light. Halfway through Christy goes “this next song is a gift, where’s Beth?” I was lucky enough to be in the front row so I waved n he went “it’s Beth’s 40th birthday and this is my gift to you” and sang Reel in the flickering light. So weird, I overheard a Newfoundland chap at an airport in south America a few years back and he had a strange Irish twang to his accent. I'm Irish myself so I had to ask him. It was fascinating to listen to him and to hear that there's was still that trace in the accent. Me and my Dad watched Christy in Bundoran last year, the most unbelievable voice I have ever heard. The emotion he puts into every single one of his words really makes the song come alive. My first memory of Ireland was being at Bunratty castle in County Clare, and watching the Rugby World Cup Ireland Vs England in dirty nellies I see to remember with my head being dunked in Guinness . Fortunately the Irish won. Despite being born and raised in England I have always had a strong love and connection for Ireland. As well as Dad being a jockey he loved being around the Irish. I have got my Mum to thank for introducing us all to Christy and since I have listened to him most days since a young age until the age I am now, 24!!! And as I have grown older and older I have understood what a bunch of ***** the English have been. Apologies for the life story but I just wanted to say my bit as I have all the love for Ireland but I understand this is not reciprocated for reasons I understand. Big love to all you Irish. You have big hearts and are loyal to the cause. Apologies for the essay!!
