Absolutely wonderful. I haven’t enjoyed a documentary as much in a long time and that’s coming from a Tipperary man where the legend of Ring lives strong.

I have been watching hurling since the early 90's. D.J. Carey. Was a master. Some things he done was unreal. Shefflin was brilliant. Lol.But I would have loved to see Christy ring. But my favourite hurler is. Tommy Walsh. Not a scorer but he was a giant off a man at 5" 9. Tommy always left all on the pitch. Guts and determination. Only time well ever see a much larger foward try man mark a defende. And Tommy caught everything about Lar. Lol upthere with satanta.

I never rated Jack Lynch as a public speaker. However, in his Ring graveside oration, he was very eloquent particularly in the conclusion heard here.Perhaps hurling was much more of a passion with John Mary Lynch than politics ever was.He reached the top in both pursuits. Lynch would have had people believe he wasn't ambitious in politics.I don't wanna be a TD, I don't wanna be a Parliamentary Secretary (that was the old moniker for junior Minister, ie Minister of State),I don't wanna be a Cabinet Minister, I don't wanna be Taoiseach and Fianna Fail Leader. Yet he achieved all these.I don't wanna = Bah, humbug!

It's well known that lynch was a reluctant taoiseach, encouraged into the role by lemass and others to keep haughey out. It is unbecoming to belittle his character

I'm a Galway man, christy ring is the best ever I think, the Joe canning is the second best, christy ring is the dirtiest hurler ever, but he's the best hurler ever, he pulled on a Galway man's head in 1953 all Ireland final, the Galway man was injured and never the same again, he had to have a plate put in his head

To Thomas Egan with all deu respect il ask you one question would ring have survived in the modern game or would shefflin have survived in rings era I think the answer to who was the greatest my answer after 40 years a hurling fanatic is ring would have thrived in the modern era and shefflin wouldn't have lasted 2 minutes and to add to it Eddie keher was a far better hurdler then shefflin

I suspect Ring was an absolute pain in the arse. Also fanatically ambitious in a very unattractive manner.Have never understood why people ignore the fact that he deserted his own club and went medal hunting with Glen Rovers. He would surely have made the Cork team anyway even with Cloyne. I don't wanna hear any bull about how he was living and working in the (beautiful) city. Cloyne ain't exactly t'other side of the planet. 'tis not for nothing that Ring and Donal Og Cusack are related.Another incredibly fanatical pain. Can't remember the exact context, but I remember Vincent Browne years ago saying on the radio that Ring wasn't the full shilling.Tee hee.Browne is yet another pain but he was onto summat there. Am amazed that a Corkonian cabal didn't asassinate Vincent after that one.

He played with Midleton for 2 years after Cloyne as Cloyne didnt have enough to make up a team. Your talking out your hole with your comments. Back in those days the distance to the Glen and Cloyne was huge with transport the way it was. He played with the Glen longer than anyone. As he said himself The Glen had a huge impact on his life and he never forgot Cloyne either. RIP to the greatest to ever do it !!

@@patrickl7487 Watch your mouth sonny.I am 57 years old, I know history and am not taking lectures from some little snot about transport.Ring was back in Cloyne every weekend. If it came to it, he coulda cycled. It wouldn't exactly have hurt on the fitness front.I also stand by my point that he was a gigantic pain in the arse and a medal hunter.
