I remember as a kid, whenever I'd see WWE merch I'd see him and Cena on that merch. Obviously Cena went on to become the bigger name but Dave was a close second to him during that time period (2005-2009) Literally loved every run he's had in WWE. Been a huge fan of Dave ever since I was a kid. Great to see him make it in Hollywood. Dude hustled hard to reach the legendary status he reached in wrestling and now in Hollywood. In 2003, I tore my UCL playing baseball and went to Dr. James Andrews's facility in Birmingham, AL for Tommy John surgery. A month after the surgery, I had to return for a follow-up. I was in a very large room (about the size of a basketball gym) where many athletes (professional and amateur) were also there for follow-ups or rehabilitation. I was placed in the middle of the room to wait on Dr. Andrews and 10 feet from me was Dave Bautista, who was also there for a follow-up from when he had torn his right triceps right after he had just joined Evolution in WWE. He was the largest human being I had ever seen up-close at that time, easily over 300 lbs with biceps that were damn near the size of my head. Before checking on me, Dr. Andrews asked Bautista to do some triceps warm ups with the free weights nearby, so this dude goes over there and I shit you not, grabbed a 100 lb dumbbell and casually did a set of kickbacks. I didn't understand true strength until I witnessed that. I unfortunately didn't get a chance to talk to him, but I'll never forget that moment.
