BIKES: I Bought a 1983 Yamaha RX-S 115 2-Stroke! WHAT! Reliving My School Days! | EvoMalaysia.com

WEEKEND SPECIAL! IN 1983 (what were u doing in 83?!) I was in Form 3 and THIS bike took the local 2-wheel world by storm and every schoolboy including me wanted one, the Yamaha RX-S 115 2-stroke! It was THE bike of the day but many of you won't remember it, after all it comes from a very, very different era, a different time, a different life!
I'd been harbouring thoughts of getting one for a very long time, but seeing as how I've been so preoccupied with my cars lately, I have really been looking into it. And then this popped up on my FB marketplace feed! I went to see it right away.
This bike looked like it had been restored by its former owner very nicely, back to original condition and I was gobsmacked when I went to see it. It started up with one kick and I was sold when I heard that distinctive 2-stroke sound, and smelt the 2T oil burn. A rush of memories came flooding back, and I bought the bike on the spot after a little haggling. The ride home the next day was absolutely magical folks, a torrent of old memories came back, again!
It was also a good time to pay a visit to my buddy Thomas Tai's new bike shop in Taman Mayang PJ. Located at Mayang Plaza, 15-1 MP, Jalan SS 26/4, Taman Mayang Jaya, 47301 PJ, this shop is a lot bigger than his previous one in SS 5 Kelana Jaya. Back in the days this RXS model was the bike for young adults with bell bottom pants and flowery long sleeve shirts. This and alongside Honda CBs and CGs especially CG125. I owned a 1980 CG125 model which was previously my old man's bike and later on restored it for my daily ride for about 10 years starting from 2002 until 2012..What a nice bike to have in your garage. Sold it due to hardship of finding spareparts in my area in Kuching at that time.

OMG !! these bikes together with the RXZ , suzuki trs .. all were " hip " bikes during school days ! The bike looked amazing ! Chris, great find. Just brought back memory I have this then RXZ, this one hit top speed 140 at the instrument. In those day those samseng like this with loud exhaust easily modified

Yes atac stands for automatic torque amplification chamber , i rode this as well hit 4000 rpm it pulls but no match to rxz. Raider has gear indicator lcd those day that was some feature
