Roy can’t do dthrow>ftilt and shouldn’t anyway. His nair 1 also works very differently and even nair1>fsmash isn’t true to hitstun until 90~ generally, chrom’s is true from like 30% at least. Also can’t do double nair 1 combos/confirms. Roy can’t do joops(jab loops) the same way but he can do an alternative version called vortexing where the nair 1 traps or intentionally whiffs on nairdodge/tech in place, and you’re then free to jab their tech option or react and chase(and ideally vortex them again into a confirm). Other main thing is that roy jab>fsmash isn’t as simple as chrom’s, and requires stutterstepping more often than chroms just to get sweetspot instead of midspot. That’s mostly it, but yeah a large chunk of combos are replicable, even with the knockback and damage differences.

I appreciate this. I realized my comment may have sounded sarcastic but I am having character identity crisis switching between chrom and Roy. I honestly can't figure out which is better, consistency versus burst. Better horizon recovery vs better vertical. Cool brand tattoo vs bell bottoms.

Kinda sad you didn't talk about the landing up air to side B one combos, they're not true but they're unreactable and only escapable if you know they're coming (plus if you wavebounce the side B they're some of the coolest looking shit in the entire game)

footstool up b should also be mentioned! While it's basically the same punish as up b oos, it is a slightly quicker option, allowing you to get the free up b damage in some scenarios where up b oos is not quick enough. should be noted that it is not universal on the cast though.
