Fast and easy, great video. I'm still using Premiere Elements 15 to edit. I have Davinci Resolve but Elements is so easy that I still use it.

Thanks bud! It's difficult to find tutorials for Elements. I mean, I should be using Resolve by now but I've worked with Elements for years, I don't feel like giving 'Dobe any more subscriptions. I appreciate you helping me save time.

I have characters with a blue color scheme & somehow the greenscreen makes it look all distorted & takes the colors out, I tried the Chroma Key effect & it fixes that issue so thanks for this tutorial!

Did you create the green screen mp4 video using Premiere Elements? If yes, how did you do it - with an actual green screen background or did you remove a background from the video and convert it to green? (if you did the later, can you tell us how you did it?)
@sgrisetti6 жыл бұрын
I shot it in front of a green screen. In this case I just used an large sheet of poster board (emerald green) I bought from Michael's. Larger screens and sheets are available from Amazon and other retailers.

It hard to believe that they still haven't added the green screen effect for Mac in 2021 version. I just tried the videomerge feature as described in this video. It started out okay, but then flitted in and out during the same clip. Lots of weird flashing around. Same clip was seamless using the green screen effect in iMovie. Any suggestions?

I've always found Videomerge to work at least as good and often better than Chroma Key. I don't know what to recommend besides that. Sorry.

Thanks for the video. Very helpful!!. I was mostly successful but my image on the video looks very pixelated with green. Is that fixed with better lighting?

Probably. As I say, the better your green screen shot, the cleaner your key composite shot will be.

GREAT VIDEO! But, the effect only works for a few seconds. Then, it turns black and transparent even if I have the background. What shoud I be doing wrong?

If you render yur footage into a preliminary version to add more to, the Videomerge does not come across. The green screen is right there. This is maddening!

@Steve Grisetti im using a green screen suit for a my green screen and the green screen suit will be moving with the person in it and when i use the video merge on my mac it just turns the green color black is there a way to make it invisible ?
@sgrisetti4 жыл бұрын
What is on the video track below your green screen clip? As this tutorial shows, you need to have a background on a lower video track or transparent will look black.
@zacharyschwanke70804 жыл бұрын
@@sgrisetti i have it on a lower track but it still shows up black :( green screen hasn't been working for me and I'm using a green screen suit

You can control the tolerance and even define the key color. But it may be that your greenscreen shot just isn't clearn enough. If you'd like to discuss it more, you can post your question to our free Community Forum at Muvipix.com and we'll help you work through it.

Is it possible to superimpose over another video if I used a black screen instead of green or blue? I have a Mac and Elements 15. I have tried several options, including various mattes. All I can do is make garbage mattes. Videomerge was no help. I ended up with tiny bits and pieces of the background video coming through the black background. I wanted to superimpose a singer over the other video, not put him in a box!
@sgrisetti7 жыл бұрын
The problem with using a black screen is that EVERYTHING that is black in your video is going to become transparent. That's why green and blue is most often used for key shots. Green and blue are not colors found in human skin and hair (usually). As I said in the tutorial, you need a good key shot in order to get a good key effect. That means a good, smooth, well-like green or blue background.

@@sgrisetti I went to the site and couldn’t create an account. The was a red message at the top, but can’t remember what it said. But since I’m here, my issue is this. I’m using Adobe Premiere Elements 2019. When I try to export, I receive an error box that reads “Export Error, Error compiling movie. Unknown error.” I’ve never seen this before. My timeline contains 4 lines of green screen video I recorded with my iPhone 11. I added the chroma key and green screen effects on each line of video. Why can’t I export?

I'm sorry. I can't help you here because we'll need to have a back and forth discussion, which we can do on the Muvipix site. There are details we'll need to get into. And I've no idea why you can't create an account. It should be as simple as clicking the Register button and following the prompts.

You need to have a green or blue screen, pretty much, to do an effect like this.
