I suppose it’s fair to say that Chromatic Mediant Chords are a superset of what I of learned as Borrowed Chords - chords “borrowed” from the parallel minor or major tonality.

I guess you could look at it like that, except you're basically ONLY using borrowed chords and the I chord, which is what gives chromatic mediants that distinct sound.

Wow, i really love chromatic mediants. Using arpeggios is too easy to do without too much thought that is. I love that you display scale options for every chord option. This is so cool!

The chords that are yielded by the augmented & half-whole, how are this year yielded by the scaled respectively?
@chromaticusmusic Жыл бұрын
I think there is a typo and I'm not sure exactly what you're asking... If you're asking which chords come from which scales- they are written on the chart underneath each of the scales.

Good vids, mate! So, chr mediants have a relation of up or down by min3 or maj3 interval between them. So between any neighbouring chords (ex. C A Csharp E C)?? And I can also insert a chr mediant after or before any chord as a kinda insertion/spice (Am C ‘Eb’ G )?? So theoretically all what matters is a relationship between a chr mediant and neighboring chords?? Or is there other theoretical ways of using these fukkkers?? Thnx❤.

The chord would be in relation to the I chord. So if you start inserting them in between other chords in the key, then they will have varying relationships with the I chord of the key.

@@chromaticusmusic thnx. yea, there’s a relationship with the tonic.. but it’s possible to have the chr mediants relationship between any neighbouring chords in a progression if they are separated by 3rds? What do u think? Ex: G C Ab F (last three chords have relationships of 3rds. )
@chromaticusmusic Жыл бұрын
@@TheAtheistworld I would say no, because ultimately if there is a sense of a 1 chord then everything really relates to that chord. If you start putting emphasis on chordal relationships to say the IV chord you may end up actually shifting the Tonal center and then IV would be the new I chord in the new key. Another example, in the key of C Major, if you play the V chord, and then try to play the “chromatic mediant chord” up a minor third Bb Maj, that Bb Maj would be analyzed from the perspective of the C Major chord and would be bVII Maj.
