After All these years, I managed to learn the secrets of the "Must Do" in the different processes explained here, which so many times, make us wonder why some end results are far far better than the others. The OLD SCHOOL fundamentals I used to hear from my father, have appeared here too and they are the ones which inspire confidence and discipline. Thanks a lot Jim!

This is by far best video in electroplating step by step explained. Trying to replicate exact small scale workshop and would appreciate if another video comes explaining hardware, baths, anode bascets, as well as electroplating solution content, acids mix ratio etc. Big thanks for this one, will keep following you. Best regards

I purchased the plating kit a few years ago but still had questions and never took the time to dig into because the company's video is not that great. This video fills in all the missing data and was very informative. It would be nice to know where you purchased your containers, heaters, and ultrasonic equipment as well as the fluoride. Great video and many thanks! Looking forward to seeing more!

Tim Williams I have a playing shop to order them they are really hard before started my business I had to buy the pumps and everything first turn out they were really hard to find I couldn’t find them new! So I had to go to an old plating shop which they were shutting down and I had bought all the bumps and things I need to start plating

@@_Junior_Jesus_ The way plating shops have been getting shut down because of environmental concerns I'm about half way afraid to set up anything big. It would be nice to be able to make some $ on the side plating for people but who knows how long it would last until some Gov't official comes knocking on the door. Guess I need to look into the legality of it before I decide to set up a shop like this.

You will find that a heat resistant blanket as used by plumbers placed in the vice and then the part will negate the need to heat the steel vice along with the part processing the soldering more quickly.

If you needed to transport the chemicals say for relocating or sale of the operation, you theoretically could reduce the volume and increade the concentrstion of the solutions by boiling or evaporating the H2O down to a minimum, and reducing the shipping size, maybe yes no?

Basically Ammonium Bifluoride and other bits and bobs. It comes as a proprietary powder formulation. When added to water you get the effect of Hydrofluoric Acid but safer to users.

do you know something about porous pot methods for chrome process?
@DeliciousDeBlair
@DeliciousDeBlair 6 жыл бұрын
So when you say the chrome is 'just a clear coat' does this imply that the chrome is literally transparent? Or just so thin it allows light to pass?
@FrankEdavidson
@FrankEdavidson 6 жыл бұрын
Chromium is not transparent, it's just very thin which brings out the nickel.kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3-zm5d6iJZkeZY

Definitely different than the heavy chrome on hydraulic rods! I have stripped the chrome off an old hydraulic ram which was grossly neglected, and it was not peeled, but it was pitted.
@maxwebster7572
@maxwebster7572 6 жыл бұрын
Hydraulics use "hard chrome" which is a different process. Triple "copper-nickel-chrome" is for show. The copper fills, nickel makes it hard and chrome makes it lustre.

Although I like how shiny 'chromed' parts look on cars and stuff, since I work mainly with heavy equipment, my need for chrome is definitely for use in high wear, high corrosion environments. I would like to learn how to apply hard chrome to machinery parts where they will be coming in contact with water, dirt, rocks, organic matter and so forth where they will be abraded over time, so I can repair damaged chrome [such as hydraulic rods and cylinders] on very old antique machinery, even if that machinery is never going to be sent back out into the field, particularly where they are 100% original and the client wants to avoid the need for making anything out of new material as that will reduce the value of the machine. This is mostly for restoration as we have a lot of really old stuff come through our shop, and some of it is obsolete enough that there are no OEM parts for them. I just had to work on my own 1962 Mitsubishi BS3d and there are no replacement parts for track tensioners in the states, and the risk plus cost of trying to buy a whole other machine for parts overseas is totally not worth it, so in the end, it is not an OEM restoration, because I could not repair the severely pitted parts of the track tensioners, and could not find anybody else who would do it. The machine runs just fine, its just somewhat a custom build now.
@maxwebster7572
@maxwebster7572 6 жыл бұрын
The cost of setting up the chrome system for what you need is a deterrent on it's own and it's not the solution to your problem. The chrome is best left to the experts and what you describe should likely start at a machine shop and end at a machine shop. It's kind of evident from your post you don't have a fucking clue so good luck with that. You don't just dip a cylinder and make it fixed. Jim also didn't mention hydrogen embrittlement either.

hi could you tell me why such a high amp on your rectifier is it just to use mulltiple tanks etc could you advise what amp machine you would use on 1 chemical tank say 4 foot by 2 foot and the depth of say 2 foot as fancy having a go at doing motor bike bits but using a seperate rectifier each different tank due to power supply available thanks shaun
