HI, I am thinking of buying a Chromebook Ideapad 3 (8 GIG RAM, Intel Celeron N4020). Do you think it can manage programming stuff? I know on Windows that is a huge pain and almost impossible, but I work with Python and also Web development. Can it manage?

How does the Auto update policy work. If you buy one that's a few years old, when does it start. I read about a 10 year policy.

This is interesting I have the OG HP X2 with 12.3. I was hoping they would do 1440p on this but I will wait for the full review.

Only wish it had the same resolution as the first duet. I'll be planning to get it

16:9 aspect ratio is a disappointment, will be interesting to see how that processors compares to the i3 or i5 from Intel

Not really a disappointment as it is still the golden standard for media consumption. Not everyone needs a tall screen for productivity.

My HP Chromebook is past the update period. I like it and I don't want to spend money on a new computer. What options do I have?

For the review, please check the DRM Info-- Is it Widevine L3 like every CHromeOS device, or L1? Pretty much: Can it stream and download 1080p playback in Netflix, VUDU, Prime Video etc. From the Netflix app, dig in settings and playback configuration, and it will straight up tell you "Maximum supported resolution" and if its 480p, womp womp. Hoping Qualcomm chip improves compatibility.

So sad all these brand new Chromebooks aren't available from start in France Such as pixelbooks which, to this day, can't be found anywhere

If you're really curious if that slot space on the back of the tablet is magnetic just put something that will react to a magnet on that spot you'll know right away if something was supposed to stick there without having to go to Lenovo PR.

The original duet's Mediatek CPU gets absolutely slaughtered if you have a couple of chrome tabs open. It becomes unusable at times with this. I understand why it is priced in the $200 range

Lenovo seems to be wedded to 16x9" screens on all but their most expensive devices. Why????

If it were 16:10 I'd buy it in a heartbeat even with the 499 price tag and import tax I'm gonna have to buy.

Hmm...i was thinking about that device for a time but then my favorite notebook store offers me the Thinkpad C13 Yoga with a Ryzen 3 / 4 GB Ram and 128 GB SSD on board for 399,00 € incl. vat. So for me it was no brainer to take it and i'm completly satisfied with the performance. Like you said in the tests before the sound output is a bit of a weak point, but it works like a charm and i love this keyboard, which was a real issue to me with my first Lenovo Duet. I still use my duet as a tablet in bed for reading etc. but for my daily mail and office work on the go , i feel more comfortable with the thinkpad. But anyway the 13" oled display sounds great for use it for media on the couch or playing games via a streaming service. My usage is 70% work and just 30% media & games, which makes me to decide for a laptop styled system.

Something worth mentioning: we've had a Duet for about a year and a half, and the ribbon connector for the keyboard has begun to fail, causing the unit to abruptly switch between the keyboard and tablet mode, resizing windows and tabs unexpectedly. That ribbon seems fairly flimsy. Other users have reported the same, but unfortunately, I can't find a replacement keyboard. I wonder whether (but doubt) Lenovo has improved the robustness of the ribbon connector. Any thoughts on this, @chromeunboxed ?

The keyboard on mine went wonky too (though not the ribbon connector). Getting a replacement is way more of a hassle than it should be. I did end up finding one online for $40, but it took well over a month to ship. The Duet itself is a great cheap device (if not exactly a barn-burner in terms of performance), but there should be better support from Lenovo in respect to getting replacement parts.
