Deine Lakaien - Return (Official Video)

Dear music friends and fans,
the first preceding single to our „Kasmodiah“ album back in in 1999 was „Return“.
The accompanying video was shot in the legendary Berlin Metropol music theatre, which is nowadays known as Admiralspalast.
This is most likely our most ornate clip which originated in very exciting times for us since „Kasmodiah“ evolved into a huge, and in these dimensions not be expected, success.
Tumultuous times indeed, in which we were almost ran over by all the occurrences happening all at once. The video itself needed to revised numerous times since MTV classified the clip as „not suitable for minors“.
The video has developed into a statement of the times in retrospective and has still left us with mixed emotions, but we of course want to make the clip available again nevertheless.
We hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane.

Hach, da war ich 12. Hab die CD aus irgendeinem Grund aus der Stadtbücherei mitgenommen. Die hat mich so berührt, dass ich einen Brief an DL geschrieben habe, hilflos versucht habe zu beschreiben, was da in mir widerhallt: Sehnsucht und Melancholie, und Dunkles. Ich glaube, vorher kannte ich nur die Backstreet Boys, Caught in the Act und wie sie alle hießen. Ich hab die CD niemandem vorgespielt, ich dachte, dass das eh keiner versteht. Heute höre ich die Musik teilweise anders, viel abgeklärter, aber Return macht mich immer noch so rastlos, glücklich und traurig.

I found it hard to cope with Deine Lakaien earlier works, but the Kasmodiah album got that special melodic mixture of dark wave synthmelodies, traditional singing and classical textures, which I really felt for. Great album, with songs to be remembered alot!

That would be amazing. I have been planning to travel to Germany to see DL, but I just graduated college and its still a bit out of my budget (not that it matters much with Covid anyway). I would travel anywhere they decided to go in the US since its a bit more feasible for me at the moment. I sincerely wish for that in the future, but regardless, I will figure out how to see them live someday.
