The 1990 film RoboCop 2 introduced the world to one of science-fiction film’s most menacing characters, the Cain cyborg. With a power-hungry psychopathic drug-lord as its human base, and an unscrupulous business as its creator, Cain wreaks havoc on the innocent civilians of Detroit until taken down by RoboCop in a climatic final scene.
Co-created by legendary special-effects animator Phil Tippett, the charismatic Cain was brought to life in the film with a full-size robot prop and several intricately machined stop-motion puppets, all which have survived and live at Tippett Studio.
Explains Cain project head Mark Dubeau, “Going into the project I really underestimated his complexity. It was a bit like working on a Russian nesting doll. The moment you started taking him apart, you’d find engineering hidden beneath for some structural purpose or another. I still can’t believe the thought put into Cain’s seemingly ornamental detail. That initially seemed like some random “cool-looking” details glued on ACTUALLY WORKED the way you would expect it to. The pistons all worked, the shocks compress, the shoulder pivots have gimbals and hinges at intervals … it was stunning and awe-inspiring. Hundreds of parts. Madness.”
It’s from these screen-used stop-motion puppets that Chronicle Collectibles directly produced its licensed RoboCop 2 Cain model. Molded from original masters and one of the original filming puppets, Cain is assembled with a whopping 275 individual parts, with each part individually cast and cleaned for new masters by Tippett Studio. This may be one of the most complex figures ever reproduced for private collectors, and Chronicle Collectibles is proud to be part of its production.

I can see why this is one of your prized pieces. Sure it is expensive but you get what you pay for. And if you are a fan of RoboCop who wouldn't want this on a desk? Really neat how you looked at each part and added them all together. I would definitely put that in the living room.

I cannot fault it it is extremely detailed and for that I must give it an A+ however it saddens me that this is just a solid statue and does not move at all it's almost disrespectful to the spirit of the amount of Ingenuity and work that went into this actual model that it was based off of personally I believe it is in bad taste for it not to have at least some of the articulation that is supposed to have I will not be buying this but certainly if you just want something to sit on your shelf and not ever touch it or ever pose it then I guess this will get the job done

A lot of large statues though go from 1000-3000 dollars, its pretty steep but I guess depending on what you're looking for it can be worth it if you save up for those one or two items you've been seeking out. Robocop Cain for example there's never been another one out of him so for me it was worth the pick up

As incredible as this is, to be honest everything should move. They made this 'statue' from the original castings used in the movie but rather than having moving pistons and screws for the hinges they just glued in together so it's static. Again a beautiful piece but was so hoping this could've been a fully movable piece.

for a plastic statue, thats too much money(considering the price of resin and number of units fabricated) i would pay 2500 bucks for a full metal( material correct replica, or machined aluminum at least ) a few people would buy a 5000 dollar metal posable Cain , with simple led and laser diodes and a turn on, turn off simple stance routine. machined cast aluminum for the frame, silicone inner joints with steel axles and nylon bushings, common kitchen stainless steel legs and gears, armor and ports. real torx micro screws from dead hard drives, separated real moving pneumatic/hydraulic pistons(rc parts), real wires. last, real braided hoses, and couplings. yahoooo

Problem is the limited amount of external examples. They (literally) designed this character to PURPOSEFULLY be difficult for companies to replicate statues and figures of oddly enough following ED-209

I know it's a nice figure though not very dynamic for Cain, a better pose would have been better, but what is with that stupid price tag, it's an utter joke for what you get, a total ripoff, for that price I would expect a fully posable figure with working mini screen or at the very minimum a lenticular one.

in the movie he's actually called Robocop 2, the failed efforts are each called Robocop 2 and the Cain version was introduced to the media as Robocop 2, in fact the nobody from OCP calls him Cain, you must have been watching the wrong movie there fella :)

Really? Who is the main antagonist in the movie? That would be Cain, right? Do you get that Murphy was placed inside the RoboCop but is actually still Murphy? That's the whole point of the series... Cain was placed inside the RoboCop 2 but IS STILL CAIN. Even the damn crew that created the damn thing calls it Cain... because it is the damn drug lord inside a machine, what, where they going to introduce him as Cain to the public? Are you OCP or a person who saw a film, you know, like the rest of us? Hell, even look on IMDB.
