The fact we face the culmination of Yoko Taro’s pass game taking it all the way back to even Zero herself the final boss of the last raid has a particular title….Grotesquire Queen (hope I spelled that right). Man that whole boss fight was a love letter from all his games wrap in one. Fight in Tokyo (drakengard 1), the lunar tears (Kaine), the flower in the eye (Zero) and course the forms 2B and the red girls combined. Knowing what we know as a whole the gravity of what we fought is very heavy.

The entire raid series was a lot of fan service for us Nier fans. The fact that it didn't expand much on the lore of FFXIV itself wasn't all that appealing to the people who had never played Drakengard and Nier, but since I thoroughly enjoyed both series (Drakengard 1 and 3 need that nice remake/remaster treatment) catching the references made this all very enjoyable for me.

Out in the dwarf village where the festival took place there are quests that appear after you complete the final raid of the Nier event where you do things for the Dwarves and receive messages from Konogg letting you know what he's currently doing.

I’m no expert on NieR so I have two questions. Why didn’t it get planted in the Source? And I’ve heard they only had one weakness that we have access to on the Source. Would they be able to stave them off?

It's also worth mentioning the final boss song itself, I believe, is named after Kainè from NEiR Geshtalt/Replicant. So... there's a lot to unpack here. Of course. It's Yoko.

Yeah that song is a fusion of Kainè's theme and the final boss fight in Drakengard after Caim and Angelus get teleported to Tokyo and fight the Queen Beast.

"Proving that the warrior of light, is an idiot" lmao that's what I thought the whole time playing this game. My character is insanely strong but has no brain made me ended up doing all of those mundane and tedious quests because the lack of critical thinking XD

Having played through the game on multiple characters now, I have confirmed that the Warrior of Light would score very low on any IQ test. And the rest of Eorzea has figured that out too, otherwise they wouldn't ask a god slayer to clean the rats out of their basement.

Now that the warrior is pretty wealthy 3 expansions after yet still taking errand quests. I guest it's not about the money, they're just too stopid to say no after all XD

@@ChroniclerofLore the WoL has the goddamn patience of a thousand thousand saints to put up with all the bullshit they’ve put up with for years at this point. It’s no wonder the *second* you can say things without fear of blowback (at the implicit threat of a sword twice the average person’s height) you end up scarring people for life, for the better but still. At this point it’s past ignorance and entered the realm of Bliss and being incapable of giving a single absolute fuck at other peoples’ chicanery. That and actually really liking to make people genuinely happy and to never forget the common man, even if it means stuffing through a sewer of shite and back.

I'm extremely mad after the 7 weeks of quests. All of the hints at things like the white chlorination syndrome and konogg potentially finding another Seed and accidentally starting this whole thing over again were all for nothing.

The amount of mental gymnastics it takes to make sense of a NieR story makes my head hurt. You really can’t make sense of it at a certain point. It’s too much content to keep track of and almost every path leads to tragedy. That’s why I don’t try to play the games for the lore and I do like lore. I will say the raid has great glamour. A shame they don’t offer a chance to get weapons from the coins you get.

The main reason I even wanted Nier was to get the floating swords for my Samurai. I was extremely disappointed by the lack of nier weapons. And as for the story that requires a lot of patience and strong beverages to piece together. It's an above average story (Nier itself not the FFXIV crossover) but the research into Drakengard and the books and such makes it a bit annoying.

I never liked the idea of this crossover. I mean, it adds interesting elements to the world-building of the NieR games... but in a series of raids in an advanced part of a MMORPG that has nothing to do with the NieR games. That said, thanks for this video. It's a good thing for people like me who don't want to play FFXIV.

You're very welcome. As a Nier fan I enjoyed playing through the raids and seeing all of the easter eggs, but as a FFXIV fan this raid series added nothing to the world of FFXIV and shouldn't have been there.

@@ChroniclerofLore Nier is a fantastic property but I always felt this raid story was very awkwardly meshed into the greater FFXIV landscape too. But I really did try to appreciate a lot of it's artistic elements though because the music is phenomenal. I sometimes think maybe if they combined the mechanical datascape elements of Omega here, some how some way, it could of felt more organically blended. But that's just my opinion. It was still incredibly fun.

The biggest issue is the fact that the story is pretty isolated and leaves a lot unanswered. Normally you're supposed to read deeply into Yoko Taro's work. This time I recommend you take it at face value. Machine lifeforms from another world invaded the First and attempted to destroy the world. Androids followed them to the First to stop them. Because of the WoL's inability to mind their own business, 2 Dwarf siblings dragged you into it and shenanigans followed.

I only know NieR: Automata's lore and I _barely_ understood _that!_ Can someone please explain to me what's with the orb and the connection to the Machine Lifeforms and so on?

@@Archris17 It's a little complicated, but basically there's an entity that won't rest until all intelligent life is wiped out. It was created by the Gods to wipe out humanity but it got thrown into "our world" and then was "killed" by a dragon. After that it became an incurable virus called White Chlorination Syndrome that wiped out humanity thanks to the failure of Project Gestalt. Now it's the Logic Virus that has taken control of the Terminal AI (the girl in red) and is trying to kill the machines (sent by aliens to take over the world) and the androids (which were created by the last humans...... or a certain good Boi named Emil). Clearly it's bored and wants to kill flesh lifeforms again which is why it's after Eorzea.

@@aisnota5192 Right okay, so... I know the Machine Lifeforms killed the aliens, but were they infected by the Logic Virus when that happened? Were they always infected? Secondarily, there's machines that split off from the network, like the Forest Kingdom or Pascal's village... Did they escape the virus? If the Watchers want to wipe out all sapient life, why did the virus lie dormant in YoRHa's systems so long? Why the constant cycle of war on Earth? At least I get why the orb came to The First - that part's relatively easy to follow, from that motivation. What I don't get is why Annogg, 2B and 9S were created, when they want to stop the destruction of the world. I also find it HILARIOUS that these ancient cosmic horrors get to The First, unleash their unstoppable and incomprehensible plans... And then get _backhanded right out of the fucking dimension_ by the Warrior of Light. I can just imagine the Girl In Red reeling back all like, "What the FUCK did we just poke?!"

They have a lot tbh. Not many that are permanent though. The permanent ones are Monster Hunter, Nier and maybe a handful of others.

Yeah I remember those. They were similar to the hunt system in FFXIV only way more involved and creative imo (like the hunt monsters that only appeared if your group was all women and such). I think they should do more with the solo hunts from the board in game.

Because there was literally nothing there. Konogg sent us a lot of journal entries that went nowhere and then he wandered off with Anogg but we don't know what was going on since nothing was explained. I couldn't really add it since there was really nothing there of substance. Needless to say I was REALLY mad about that.
