I dig Gideon being an Iconoclast. It feels right, considering for him to leave his old life behind. He'd have to be at least a little bit maverick. And I think one of the most maverick things a leader could do in 40k is show mercy🤙🏿🍻

Note for character building: As of writing this comment once you get to Exemplar at level 36 you CANNOT select Pysker, Navigator, Origin or Homeworld specific abilities and talents and can only take Archetype specific ability and talents. I'm unsure if this is a bug or intentional but should be kept in mind.

A great 1st episode. I was very curious what sort of character Gideon would end up being and I quite like him, Officer isn't what I initially expected but as you went over there's some great synergy with a few of the Homeworld and Origin specific talents and most importantly the RP fits. Gideon is going to surprise a lot of the characters in the game I imagine its not often a blunt, compassionate military man finds themselves rubbing elbows with the sorts a Rogue Trader associates with. I really like how Officer is handled in RT it's not common a support character like this feels fun, powerful and gratifying to play. I suspect it'll be one of the more popular picks. Don't burn yourself out though lots and lots of reading out loud can be challenging on the voice and this game is going to be a long haul. If it takes a bit longer I think I can speak for most of us long time viewers we'll be here regrdless.

I like Abelard, more than I thought I would he at first to me seemed an old dog who can't adapt to the changing circumstances but he's got some depth to him and is only one of two party members that are Benevolentia or Iconoclast I think its called in the full release.

On the Warhammer 40K front I was greatly into the figure painting, Imperial Guard Karpathian regiments, a planet that used Cadian kit with Prussian colours of 1870-71. Plis First Born Sons of Vostroya. But as I'm weird they were painted in Tsarist colours of 1878. Rank and file in dark green, officers in white. There may have been due to Viking interest 'Wolves in Spaaaaace' plus a sidenot in Orks is best. I did also very much like painting the Imperial ships from Battle Fleet Gothic. I also very much enjoyed reading the books till the ran amoj with the Horus Heresy and slowed 40lK book production to a snails pace

I've been looking forward to this series! I like the character so far. Hes a stout guardsmen who's annoyed at being moved but takes it in pride. I think making him a bit merciful especially now is good especially with whats just happened just don't go to soft or people will start getting strange ideas especially about cowardice.... Other then that I'd say start with getting a navigator first it's going to be important especially knowing something in the warp is watching.... We'll need a bright faithful voice to drown it out.

It's parchment. It's not that thick, you could fold it up into something you could carry reasonably easily. Hard part would be getting it out of the mounting. Also, did he need to take it? I thought he just wanted to get authorization to take control of the ship's systems, sort of like you did.

One thing I wish they did. The augments you choose should affect your stats, as they are legit upgrades in the verse. Example, an oculus implant should enhance your Perception, a neural augment should up your Intelligence, an arm or leg augment can improve your Strength or Agility. Nothing too crazy, but just that little extra touch of flair.

I'll explain all about that in the next part when it comes into play! Cargo is what we use to increase our reputation with various factions. We need them to be filled up to at least 100% and find vendors who want those items.

I'm not sure if I like this game so far. I love when a game has a lot of great dialogue like in Planescape: Torment and Pathfinder: Kingmaker, but it needs to be interesting and compelling and well paced. I didn't get much out of a LOT of the dialogue in this video, and it was hard to figure out what was going on in the game until Kunrads plot twist, and I really got confused again after you beat the boss at the end.

Which parts were you confused by? It’s a lot of in media res in the start which can be confusing for sure. They front load a lot of lore information for people who might not know the setting or the specifics of the Rogue Trader stuff.

It feels like a massive lore and infodump, which in turn usually makes me glaze over in any story, be it from a book or a video game. Compare this to the intro in Kingmaker and Planescape Torment, two games that I have mad love for. While you do get a decent amount of lore from both games in the beginning, it's more about what's going on in the moment, and it makes you care about what's most important to me in a story, the characters! There was so much focus on background lore that I didn't absorb anything about the characters.

I can agree with that criticism. I have a hard time with info dumps too. I'd have preferred a little more of a cinematic introduction for exposition instead of using the prologue for that. However, it does pick up more later, I think. By the second video, we have some nice interactions with Cassia and Abelard.

Hey Surreal.... I hope you see this.. I've been watching your warhammer game vids for a long time (since TW:WH1 first came out - spent enormous amt of time watching your vids rather than playing my own game, lol). I don't think you're the type to get in a bind about things like this....but I have a question about this game's performance on your PC. The requirements for this game look REALLY low, so I was pretty sure I'd be able to get really good settings (maybe even 4k) on my 6700K+1080Ti (I played plenty of games with WAY better graphics and higher reqs on this setup at 4k/max/60/vsync on my 4k TV). Turns out I was wrong, and ANY time there's a "cutscene" or basically ANY action taken in combat, no matter how big the fight caused massive fps drops. I was about to get a gpu upgrade so I put the game off for a few weeks. Well, so far I've tried this game on a 6700K with a 7800XT, a 7900XT, and a 4070 Super (in addition to the 1080ti). None of these cards allow for a fluid 60fps at ANY resolution, with upscaling, even at a mix of high/medium settings (let alone my usual 4k/max/60 in games like this that I'd get on my 1080ti....). The game doesn't seem too cpu dependant, and I do get slightly higher FPS with the stronger GPUs even on my old 6700K (not counting the huge fps drops, which happen regardless). But I've also tried it on my brother's brand new 7800X3D + 7800XT PC and the results were pretty much exactly the same (proving the cpu doesn't matter too much here, at least at the beginning as I never got too far into the game due to frustrations with performance). It almost seems to me like this game is actually impossible to play at 60+ fps (with no noticable fps drops at all) regardless of hardware (although I don't have a 4090 on hand to test that...). Anyway....... it doesn't look like you're playing at very high settings here, and I can still see what seem to be fps drops similar to what I've experienced. I can't gauge too well how it's performing without actually seeing the statistics, though (or ACTUALLY watching you play in-person). Can you let me know how the game's been running for you and what settings you are playing on? Also, what were your PC specs while playing this game? I like it so far but why are there so many female characters, and they are all either made to be the most important or coolest characters too... Its just off-putting when people go this far with their politics in their game. Ruins everything.
