I randomly stumbled upon this video like half a year ago, two days later I bought a guitar and midterms started, was a fun week. Since then I've been learning how to play the guitar, the first song I actually learned was star stealing girl/the girl who stole a star (depending on the translation) since radical dreamers was too hard, since then I've constantly been learning new songs of increasing difficulty while all the time seeing if I am at the level where I can play this yet. I feel like I've gotten really close lately, barres still screw me over constantly and my tempo is all over the place but it doesn't feel as impossible as it was when I started, and whenever I felt burned out because my fingers hurt or because I felt like they are too short to accomplish anything I come back here and listen, then the next day I'm pumped up for it all over again. So I want to say thank you for ruining my midterms and splitting the small free time I had even more, I'll never regret it, and you together with kabuki bear are my heroes

I've played for years and it was still hard but I normally play with my guitar downtuned a whole step and at some point just started playing it at the same pitch using bar chords and starting at open A string (G) instead of following online tabs and it flows better and sounds closer to the original I suspect it is played that way

@svenstevenson22456 ай бұрын
@@JohnnyDarko01 IMO the entire game was hollow and empty... at least from the perspective of being a sequel to chrono trigger. I hate the DS version of CT basically adding new content to retcon and "better" connect CT and CC. Among the many mistakes CC made IMO other than not fully commit to being a "true" sequel, adding 45+ mostly forgettable "playable" characters. IMO a smaller roster of 6-7 characters like in CT would have allowed them to actually create more combo techs to keep it not only more interesting but also in line with favored elements from CT. Moreover, with the extra space saved with the lower roster, they could have actually included magus either as a playable character or at least as a major element of the story... you know the story about rescuing schala... you know schala, his sister, the only unresolved plot point of CT and the one character most concerned with saving her outside of maybe the 1000 A.D. Crew... Speaking of the 1000 A.D. Crew, they even killed all of them, but not even directly, mostly implied, to include robo who was hardwired into mother brain as potentially a fail safe to prevent her from going kill all humans like her 2300 A.D. post apocalypse version had, except in CC's main story we see mother brain "eliminating traitor circuit Prometheus" Prometheus aka robo... Don't get me wrong, it was a great game, amazing music, even enjoyed the unique battle system, but also hate it as its both a sequel and not.
@Nowyn4 ай бұрын
@@svenstevenson2245 Yea thats what turned me off for that game, when I got to the point (and thats really near the end) where they threw in the CT characters - and they were all killed, it was like .... ok, I'm done playing.

There truly are no words to describe the immense feeling and emotion this track gives off. I was eight years old when I played Chrono Cross... maybe that is why it has a special place in my heart. I cry every time I hear this. The track is beautiful, and the association with my youth and innocence makes it all the more meaningful. I'm 31 now, and even my wife does not understand. She supports but she can't fathom how a video games association like this could exist, how the pieces of those experiences are encapsulated perfectly in even just one track. I can look no more fondly at the past.
@ellim1100 Жыл бұрын
That must've been a beautiful experience. My old best friend introduced me to it and it reminds me of our young life chasing JRPGS and playing them over the house phone, having to hang-up to go online with dial-up to look up the strategy guide.

Same for me. I was 15 when Chrono Trigger came out and it was the perfect escape for all the teenage angst, social pressure and just be a kid again. My wife also doesn't understand this kind of association. Can't blame her since she grew up in a much different environment than I did.

+luvgzus4ever I am pretty sure the original uses just one guitar, but he added the melody of the singing, that is maybe why you get this feeling ;)
@JuicyLeek6 жыл бұрын
It's not because of the melody. The original definitely uses two guitars, but not like a duet. Instead, it looks like two guitar takes were merged into one and some of the overlap was purposely left in. This is most obvious at the very end of the original, during the second-to-last bar; you can clearly hear the overlapping guitar throughout the entire bar.
@Darkdooomer6 жыл бұрын
You can hear it in the end of most of the phrases on the original recording, a second guitar is playing the same melody notes as the fingerpicking pattern.

No sooner than I played Chrono Cross (some twenty years ago), I had to search the web for the acoustic guitar tab. I've found some good ones-- then and since-- and I'm proud to say I've learned most of it, but I definitely always steered clear of one-man-show arrangements such as what you're playing. Having said that, your performance & arrangement were so beautiful, I felt suddenly compelled to not only comment to tell you so but to recant and tell you also that I'm sold on your solo arrangement. I'm gonna do what I can to learn to play what you've played. With an arrangement such as yours, there's no need for context, as it's already there. Compared to my "preferred" way: I'd need some chick singing Japanese, and I just don't have anyone qualified as either at my disposal. Amazing job. :)
