Dude, you and me both. It was a *profound* moment. I'll never forget it (but I'll spare you the anecdote).
@DouglasZwick4 ай бұрын
@@pointfivekorean the funny thing is, it’s not actually the first time you hear the Zeal theme in the game - it plays when you get Melchior to reforge the Masamune, but one would be forgiven for not remembering, because it’s musical foreshadowing.

@@DouglasZwick I still never remember this. Dunno why it's forgettable then but perfectly brings back the memories of first reaching that pivotal point in the game.
@DouglasZwick4 ай бұрын
@@nickfarace9339 I speculate it’s because when you’re hearing it for the first time at Melchior’s house, you associate it with the little scene that plays out there, which, granted, is a nice little scene, but it’s relatively modest in its presentation: an NPC and two party members do some work in a room in a house for a while. But then when you arrive at Zeal for the first time… I mean that’s just a truly transcendent moment right there. You’ve just defeated Azala and the Black Tyrano, and then *Lavos itself crashes into the castle you were in* and burrows underground, and you follow it and find a brand new time gate??? What??? And then you go through it and it’s a whole new era you haven’t visited before, and you trek across the barren snowscape into a cave with a high-tech teleportation device, and you beam yourselves up to… probably the most spectacular location you’ve ever seen in a video game up to that point, if you were playing it when it was remotely new. And this is the music that plays when you get there. The moment is perfectly crafted to be a core gaming memory.

The Japanese composers (Nobuo Uematsu, Yasunori Mitsuda, et. al.) who wrote these scores for Square/Enix games back in the day were absolutely brilliant, weren't they? Corridors of Time was my favorite from Chrono Trigger so I was hyped when I saw this posted. I grew up with these games as a kid and hearing your harp renditions not only send shivers down the spine but bring back fond memories and nostalgia as well. I've played some of these scores on my acoustic guitar but the guitar lacks the depth, the ring-out, harmonics, and beauty of the harp...but it's your artistic touch and talent/musical interpretation that make these scores amazing to listen to...the composers I'm sure are/would be really damn impressed by your performances.

You bring a smile to my face every time I listen to you play. Wow, what a magical track. It makes me want to go back in time and play the game for the first time again. To experience that kind of magic.

Your rendition of game songs is so beautiful. I can tell that you consider a lot in the conposition of these performances. Amazing job, as always. I'm sure you get tons of requests, but I'd like to throw one more in the pile: Final Fantasy Tactics! There's some beautiful pieces there that I would love to hear you interpret!

Thank you so much 💖 I try to be faithful to the original while also taking into consideration what works on the harp and how to bring out the best aspects of the harp. It's challenging but I think worth it. Embarrassing but I still haven't played FFT yet, so I'm not TOO familiar with the OST. Which songs do you like the most?
