"Stop trying to sell these as if they're separate products Ebayers!" I always liked that line for some reason.

in 2009, I got the initial DVD releases of Episodes 1-3 (got 2 and 3 at the same time), and I have the 2000 Widescreen Collector's Set for TPM. My Film Cell is just Qui-Gon talking to the Jedi Council.

I'd actually got the vhs widescreen collector's edition for a birthday present when it first came out, it was pretty awesome. I love the film strip that came with it to. It's the scene when Liam Neeson, Obi Wan, and Jar Jar are standing there talking to Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman about going to Coruscant for help after the droid invasion. Pretty awesome! Great video by the way, love your channel. Keep up the good work.

I found the Widescreen Video Collector's Edition for Star Wars I today. Shrinkwrapped and 40 cents. Somebody did NOT care one bit about what they had.

Cool. I found mine at a thrift store yesterday for 3 bucks. It's corners has some foxing. But overall, it's fine.

I saw the vhs widescreen last year and the store was charging almost 20. I wanted the movie (although I'd rather get the laserdisc now) but not for that price and it felt like people smoked in there often, as there was a lot of dust. So it was sealed but not in pristine condition for a price that I thought was high.

Hey Nathan, I was at a Tallahassee goodwill, and for 7$ I got the entire Special Edition trilogy on VHS, ANH and Empire's 1995 "Faces" VHS, and the Phantom Menace Widescreen collectors edition with the Film Print, everything in fantastic near mint condition!!!

It paused and refreshed itself at 1:22, creating a forwarding marker on its own. KZbin definitely did something funky to this video when it processed it.

I remember seeing the promos for the phantom menace on vhs and the ps2 game and DVD release in 2001 and loved seeing it in cinemas as a kid of 10 years old with my father and my cousin saw it in New York waiting in-line and then in la and the Chinese theatre

As much as I love the Original Trilogy and am abivilent to the Prequels, Episode I is still very nostalgic for me. It was my first exposure to Star Wars seeing the spots on TV and watching it on VHS was the first time I really bonded with my older brother who otherwise wanted nothing to do with a bratty little kid like me.

there are also japanese laserdiscs from 2000 of the phantom menace and the classic trilogy

Hey Nathan I have the malaysian TPM VCD's and they came in a floded pice of cardboard that is baslicly the same as the VHS cover. Just different dimentions. Appears to be legitimate. I've also seen evidence of AOTC and ROTS (and TPM) also getting VCD releases in Malaysia, China and Thailand.

I'm actually having loading issues with this one too; at several different points it stops - I'm working around it by reloading the page a few times and forwarding the marker to a split second after the relevant freeze point. Good episode so far though!

I don't have it, but I'm pretty sure there *is* an outer sleeve for the official Malaysian (VideoVan) 'Phantom Menace' VCDs; when I bought mine on eBay I saw it in the picture, but I was disappointed to find out that the seller only included the artwork and the discs to cut down on shipping costs.

Yep, I've still got it somewhere in my house. To my knowledge they only released the widescreen theatrical version on VHS (although I may be wrong). Maybe, it might be a collectors piece nowadays?!

I have a question: I could have sworn the VHS Widescreen Collectors Edition I had back in the day was in a larger package than the one you showed, and in addition to the art book and stuff, it included several lithographs. My ex-husband even got one of the lithographs (Darth Maul on Tattoine) autographed by Ray Park at Dragoncon many years ago. Do you know anything about an alternate packaging for the VHS Widescreen Collectors Edition?

Do you know how many different film samples there were. Because you got a different one with each set and I'm curious if any site has tried to compile all the different ones that were out there.

@justinturley70713 жыл бұрын
Also, you can also tell that the Widescreen VHS version (from the US) is not a separate regular vhs, if you look on the back, regular vhs tapes have a bar code on it, this one does not. Nice try ebayers.

'The only way you could legally buy a widescreen version of Phantom Menace in 2000'. Well, you could also buy the widescreen PAL tape if you had a compatible machine.
@ChronoRadio3 жыл бұрын
True, or almost any other region outside the US. This is specifically referring to standard US equipment, since at this point in the series it was a pretty small viewership, almost entirely using standard US machines. The viewership has expanded greatly since this was recorded.

Would it be possible for Ray Park to sign my Widescreen collector's edition with the widescreen VHS art book and the film cell? Because he is coming to a new comic book convention in my State in California in San Jose called "Silicon Valley Comic con" and I am wondering if it would be possible to sell it for a lot of money to a comic book shop.
@emmittmorgans80768 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Schmitt How much would someone pay for Ray Park's autograph? Because that's probably more than a comic book shop would pay you for it; they're gonna want to make a profit. Oh, and good luck.

It bothers me that the art on the widescreen tape of TPM is wide but on the 2000 original trilogy widescreen tapes it's just the same aspect as the full screen tapes

That era wasn't a great time for consistency in Star Wars cassettes. There were multiple label variations at the time as well, along with breaking the even = white, odd = black pattern of 2000 when AOTC was released in 2002 (and ROTS outside the U.S. in 2005).
