I maintain a hope that someday, somebody will disassemble the raw ZX Spectrum playroutine and reiterate it in 16-bit audio with non-scratchy mixing. Follin did a lot of tunes with that gem, and they deserve to be heard without all the noise. Efforts like this give us a good glimpse of what it could sound like, but there are still some inaccuracies. The instruments used in the original playroutine are actually fairly advanced and have some subtractive synth qualities, for example. Regardless, this is a good effort. Would love to hear a rendition of Future Games as well.
@898doffo4 жыл бұрын
Nah. If you are still doubting that something can be better than this rendition, then it is best you stop being lazy and re create this masterpiece. ;) But you wont, mainly because all you can do is envision and not create your own version... So have at it, learn how to compose and show us that masterpiece.

Illegal? It bypasses any such law, by manipulating the DPCM delta counter.
@Dwedit8 ай бұрын
Having a high value in the DMC counter will lower the volume of noise+triangle. Part of the weird way there is nonlinear mixing of the sound channels. Even Nintendo's own games made use of this, StarTropics will write a value to the PCM counter to set a volume for the triangle at the beginning of every song.
