How fitting that the Trumpet to herald in the death of half of mankind and the end of civilization in a brilliant flash of light was Hemi powered.

These old giants are my favorite sirens and not only they can set paper or grass on fire from a foot in front of the horn it might kill you if you put your body on contact with the horn bells reaching 189 db at the throat that's in the thresh hold of death, And the one on Cerro Negro L.A. that sirens on a nearly 2000 foot mountain and it's bin heard on Catalina island 59 miles from it's location.

WTF? 189 DB? You sure about that? That's rocket ship loud. But then again people mostly talk about how at 100 feet this thing goes to 138 DB which is still scary ass loud but wowzers 189. Fun fact at 138 the little snap off mics of a Zoom H5 recorder can verry well take this thing. But mind blown if the 189 thing be true. How did people operate the dam thing then? I mean was the person inside something or what ever?

One time, years ago, a friend of mine, Fred Berry, a horn and volume lover, plugged his ears, then from 15 feet away walked toward the throats of my Chrysler, full power, 4,600 rpm. He got within 6 feet. After I shut down, he told me that he could get no closer, his vision was blurred, his heart was palpitating and his teeth were buzzing. My owners manual states, "Under no conditions is anyone to stand in front of the horn projectors when the siren is running". Later some decibel experts told me that Fred could have boiled the fluid in his eyes, torn the retina from his eyes and ruptchured a blood vessel and had a stroke. They said to never let anyone do that again that I could be liable too..

My parents Pam and George Toroian lived in humboldt from like 1980-1988. Can’t help but wonder if any of you ever knew them. I’m a siren enthusiast, which is what brought me to this video.

Gary and Ryan. I see you guys have an original manual too. I hope you watched my Pittsburgh Chrysler siren you tube post. Your siren has some corrosion holes, like mine did. I put some hours into restoring it and all is good now. Do you have the shrouds and are you going to restore yours ? I have the turntable base with mine as you can see in my you tube. I do have a problem now. The engine won't run. The compression is good, new dist. cap, plugs, plug wires, rebuilt carb and fuel pump. plugs fire. new coil. No action when I put gas down the carb. I can't get it go no how. I think that dist gear that engages the cam might be bad. The rotor turns OK. No one I check with knows how to work on the old hemis. What can I do ?

There were british sirens that could be heard for miles as they were 150 decibels and as a kid it was scary to hear one up close but i love them now and yes it hurt my ears as the siren was at a fire station in the uk
@csmitharris14605 жыл бұрын
The Chrysler siren was the loudest siren ever made, anywhere in the world. It's an established fact. Please provide proof of this 150 decibel siren you speak of.

@@csmitharris1460 have a look on the klaxon website and look up klaxon GP12. I tell you now that this siren is very loud indeed like I said. This siren has a high decibel rating of ANY british siren. I know the Chrysler was America's loudest siren but our dual tone sirens are there as well. I should know. I have been close to one in the uk for a flood test and they are SUPERDUPER LOUD

By the was. New zealand has sirens that could eat chrysler sirens for dinner as they are specially built with turbos to increase the sound and 2 huge horns on eather side and they are like our sirens but with charged up sound without a supercharger or air compressor and they are 159 db because of where they are. They are called tactical tooling sirens sirens
@csmitharris14605 жыл бұрын
My research is showing the GP12 is 124dB @100 feet, (source: www.klaxonsignals.com/images/Products/docs/datasheet/417.pdf) the Tactical Tool NZ one is 110, maybe a little more @100 feet. (source: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sICWaWyrf96UfdU) The Chrysler is 138dB @100 feet. It still reigns supreme as the loudest siren ever made anywhere in the world. The storm sirens in my local town here in the midwest are louder than both the sirens you mentioned.

Apparently there was an article or something that said 150dB for the GP12, but it was a load of crap. www.airraidsirens.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9655&p=84773&hilit=klaxon+GP12#p84773@@jezcolborne9596

It's a shame he doesn't fully restore it. There's a few that have been fully restored by other owners in the US, and they have and do run them at full power on occasion. Just need to get permission I suppose. What's the point of showing it off if you're not going to let it do what it was built to do??

He might want to keep it in its original condition it be like saying "Hey I've got George Patton's 3 star helmet with its original paint but its chipping a bit so lets get the spray paint."

Yeah but you'd have to do it out in the open. I don't know if he has much space there. I can't see how big the place is as I'm blind. Oh and the thing that interests me in this siren is how it has an engine.

So it drives me nuts when people that either lie or they are ignorant put they are not truthful. I’ve collected them since I was 5yrs old. My first siren was an ACA allertor 125db. Then I got cyclone. Then thunderbolt. Then a hurricane 130db. Then I got my favorite of all time the P-50. I’ve recorded 141db 5’ away and 137db at 100’. I’ve ran all of my sirens inside the house since I was a kid. I’ve ran the p50 141db at the mouth. Loud as hell. I’ve never broke anything with it. And people go around saying ohh you will blow out the windows. I’ve heard it my whole life. Now my dad was in the military and I’ve got to do a lot with c6 door charges and stuff and just c4 etc. and I understand how a detonation which makes over pressure works. Because it’s a high pressure thing. The siren is not a high pressure detonation. Now the p-50/t-135 rattles your bones and my cyclone is terrifying you feel like your getting raped by an elephant it Pierce’s you soul. But it’s not a high velocity blast. And I’ve ran my sirens from 110db to 141db in the house with China and glass etc. never have I broke a window. And these nothing special about the Chrysler I’ve heard 3 diff ones in person. When your next to it. It doesn’t rattle your body like my p-50 just eats you alive because it’s a lower freq hz. The Chrysler is a higher pitch siren and it doe at feel like it gets my organs as bad.
@ryannaeve40064 жыл бұрын
okay.
@supertyfon17364 жыл бұрын
P-50 is 135 db at 100 ft and 141 db at 5 ft is as loud as a train horn and the Chrysler siren is actually deep in pitch about 460 hz the P-50 is dual toned 470/705 hz and if you did collect sirens you'd make vids on them like real enthusiasts.
