Very nice video. Thanks for posting. Just a note for everyone, WD-40 is NOT a lubricant, it is a cleaner. It also is bad for rubber and some plastics. Best to use silicone based lubricants which are safe for rubber. Keep up the good work.

Wd-40 will make things rust also. Use a silicone base spray

This was the exact fix for my 2005 Grand Caravan, pulled out the door mechanism, cleaned, lubed and sure enough, it works! Will continue using it so it stays lubricated. THANK YOU, excellent tutorial, I could hear the track running, but the door wouldn't open when the button was pushed, identical problem you had, rather than the wires in the bottom channel that is common.

Thank you, Stumbled on another silimar repair, and your more detailed "Clips unlocoking". I had to go deep in track, as wire broke in 2 places. Wasent even looking for this fix. Was just researching if regular caravans have auto slide doors, and saw utube on side. A year of Uber hassel pick ups, FIXED. Thanks again

Thanks for this video, my son pulled out the door lock winded them counter clock wise, when I tried to put it back the whole plastic cylinder fell inside so I'm gonna have to remove the trim.

Im having the same issue. My only question is. When that latch went bad. Did it also cause the window not to get power? My door looks fine and so does the wiring. Its not the fuses as the other door works normally.

My bigger problem is the door ajar light won't go off on the dash and the 5 interior convenience lights stay on for 10 minutes whenever I use the passengers sliding door. I'm wondering if cleaning the lock mechanism might help with that.

Thanks for the video. My 2006 Grand Caravan SXT with 191,000 miles is having a similar issue with the passenger sliding door. Only opens every other attempt when pushing any of the open buttons including the key fob. The motor works perfectly, but the door stays in place on the first attempt. On the second attempt the door usually opens fine. I think the lock is getting stuck. Time to pull the lock out, clean it, and see what happens. Thanks again for the video.

Be sure you sliders are lubed. My door was stopping half way then reversing. I lubed it up with penetrating oil by simply spraying it in the upper slider and that fixed it. It closed/completed the cycle after that.

Using a dry lubricant such as WD-40 Specialist Dirt & Dust Resistant Dry Lube PTFE Spray helps too. It doesn't leave an oil base film that further attracts and holds dust that clogs the part.

The sliding door on mine didn't do anything electrically. I checked the wire harness and found nothing. But there is a connector for that harness on the lower inside of the door. I unplugged that get the cable out. When I plugged that connector back in, everything came to life and I have not had a single problem since. So...unplug the conn and reconnect it before you get too involved in something more tedious.

+Gary Curry the motor for the latch worked and unlatched the lock mechanism, but never told the motor that moves the door to turn on I have a door motor if you need one

My problem was always with the wires and I have repaired both sides of my 2004 Grand Caravan. the repair has lasted longer than the original. Also to all Automatic door owners. When the door is opened or closed manually there is a magnetic disc in the Power door motor that "disengages" the motor so that the door moves freely. (You need to disassemble the motor to see the silver disc). I have found over time that the disc will keep the motor magnetically engaged and make the door difficult to move manually (feels like you are working against the stagnant motor). When I disassemble the motor and clean the disc it the manual operation works easy and "free". But this is often short-lived. Is there another way to clean the disc to have to keep for sticking over time.

What year is your Chrysler? I think I have the same kind of fault, I would press the button on the remote, in the back or on the front panel and the door would unlatch then the motor would kick in to close/open the door but only move part way on the passenger side but on the drivers side nothing would work. I've spent the day inspecting the wiring and thought the ECU in each door was maybe to fault. your solution makes sense and I think I need to do this to the tailgate as that wont powerlift but will make all the noises like it wants to.

Mine is the same year cheers dude! I had a bash at the sliding doors and the tailgate, the tailgate is fully working now after cleaning the lock mech. Next up is the sliding doors as all I did was lube the runners to make it easier to close before I had to stop due to rain.

I replaced my wire harness yesterday thinking that’s what it is and still not working. I hit the button it pops open.l but does not pull back I then have to open it manually but can then close it automatically what can cause this? I haven’t cleaned the sensor I cannot locate it. I tried brake parts cleaner and wd40 in it it works for like 3 mins then doesn’t work anymore

The sensor is inside the lock assembly... if there's no way of spraying it clean, you'll have to disassemble the lock, or replace it

+Mary Williams It seems like the lock is not sensing the door as closed. I would suggest cleaning the lock mechanism, and greasing it with fresh grease
