我大概知道为什么走遍天下都不怕了，因为走遍天下腿脚会很累 还会遇到坏人，如果有个四腿八叉小凳的话就可以在手里拿着 累了可以坐下休息，遇到坏人可以抡起来防身

What he said was that the dimensions do not need to be set in stone, because it should go with what lumber is available to you and what you think is appropriate for your own use. A couple cm more or less doesn't make a difference. The essence is to build it with tight tolerance. He said to start with cheap wood if you are new to woodworking and progress to making one with better wood after you are satisfied with your own work

意思就是能把这种凳子的活干好最少需要基本的木工技术。锯，凿，而且这各榫卯全是斜的，所以画图，实际操作都有一定的水平。能做好这个木工基础就差不多了。书法里的说法就是永字八法。把永字写好基本就差不多了。因为永字基本囊括了汉字的横着撇捺折点。
