Yeah but there are hints that that might change down the road. Ellie's already taken the first unwilling steps down that road, kind of like Chuck back in S1. Who knows where it might lead post S5.

When I saw this I hated that they took her away before Ellie got to see her, and I was also kind of annoyed that Chuck didn't pick up the teddy bear to give to his sister. They did make it better the next ep when they let Mary Bartowski go see Ellie, but what happened to the bear?

I am a diehard Chuck fan, but one thing that always threw me a bit was the romantic chemistry between Chuck and Elle, or rather Zachary Levi and Sarah Lancaster. You can really feel it in seasons 1 - 3. Watch it again, and you'll totally see it.

I register it as just an intense sibs love twoards(?) each other as they are the only ones related by blood as apart from the "work"/"office" "family" and friends that they have, although that "romantic" perhaps might be somewhat like I have noticed when trying to get a Mothers' Day card for Mom and if you substitute the word "mother" with "wife" or "lover", the cards then make more sense with what seems to be implied or stated as , yes, mother is loved, but NOT in the particular sentiment of the card.(I think that the card companies are just shortcutting rather than coming up with original material.)

@@kurtsnyder4752 And too, she didn't give birth to him, but Ellie is really Chuck's actual mother, more than Mary. It was Ellie who raised him, and I suspect Ellie has his final loyalty, probably more even than Sarah.

I don't know but all i can see and feel is 'sibling' love between them. I relate to ellie since I'm a big sister as well and also the eldest though I did not raised my siblings all by myself but the way ellie cares about chuck is the same as i do with my younger siblings- i don't know how you got the romantic chemistry between them.

I watched the show multiple time and I always saw that as just them being extremely close due to both of their parent "abandoning" them when they were still kids (or teenager in Ellie's case). They basically became orphans when their father left, and with them being each other's only family their bond probably grew stronger. Ellie also had to step up to take care of Chuck so they weren't just siblings, but also filled the roles of mother and child. With Ellie going to med school and chuck going to Stanford, growing up juggling between keeping good grades in high school, part-time work (money had to come in some way) and taking care of her little brother probably wasn't that easy.
