@@muddyjoe8811 Yeah, they're soft and i'm from Boston and haven't watched one of their games, just highlights. Porzingis can't defend the rim if his life depended on it...whether it's another center or guard driving the lane. His defense is atrocious and I don't know why anyone can't see that. The got rid of Smart who had toughness, Williams who could change the complexion of a game from his defense alone, and let Brogdon walk. They don't understand talent or what is needed to win a championship...and they won't. So it's no sense of me even watching them.

What seems to hold the celtics back to me is the inconsistency of their star players. 95% of the time the teams that win championships have their best player play well every single game. But Tatum and Brown can get so hot and cold, I never really know what to expect when the playoffs come around
@cryptidian3530
@cryptidian3530 4 ай бұрын
Yeah. Tatum, for being in the MVP discussion, too often shits the bed. You don't see a player like Luka or Jokić do that. Their bad games are extremely rare and they find other ways to be effective on the court if they're shooting poorly or something like that. Tatum isn't built that way.

@@cryptidian3530 Thats cause the ball is not in their hands like those guys. Ball is always in Luka's hands along with Jokic. JT has evolved to be a player who can create his own shot, improved passing out of double teams, or be the screener. He has 4 other players who can drop 30 any given time.

@cryptidian3530 U clearly don't know ball. JT consistently is top 3 in the league last 3 years in PER for the celtics. Not only is he great offensive player but defensive player too. Luka is a glorified stat padder where the offense stops once he gets the ball. The man had multiple 40 point games, a 73 point game, and 60 point triple double last year. Luka has NO trust in his teammates the same team that got him to a WCF. JT had trust in kemba, marcus, and now derrick white to run the offense while he plays off them. You clearly don't watch celtics games to come to your conclusion but maybe their playoff games.

i'm a C's fan and have watched every minute and i completely agree. Tatum especially has been lazy. He only takes over games against bottom of the barrel teams to keep his stats up. He gets locked up and disappears in every single loss they've had. I don't know how Brown and Tatum after all this time can still be erased from games by the opposing coach's defensive schemes. Tatum is not good enough of a 3 point shooter to punish teams and he takes so many of them because he's lazy and takes plays off. He is 25 and plays less engaged offense than 39 year old LeBron. Why

Shaq and Chuck said exactly what I've been telling my son for several weeks now, about how Boston 'has been disrespecting' these so-called, 'lesser' teams,' by not taking them seriously, and/or 'taking their foot off the gas,' which is an utterly ridiculous attitude to have as a professional athlete. Especially since we as fans know that EVERY NBA team is a collection of many of the best athletes on the planet, who deserve to be treated accordingly any, and every night, against any, and every team they play. This Tatum-era-only phenomenon of 'playing down to the competition,' is getting ugly, and to me, as a 44-year-long fan of the C's, reflects badly on the entire organization as a whole. This might require a major attitude adjustment - fast. Unfortunately, I'm not sure it's doable this year...damn...and they 'looked' so 'good' just a month ago. Come on Joe...prove me wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even as a life long Celtics fan, I completely agree and have been saying this since their first playoff run when they got Tatum. Brown and Tatum just aren't it, I'm sorry. Giving them all that money and letting the heart of the team (Marcus Smart) go was the nail in the coffin. Idc how many regular season wins they get, it will be another blown playoff run when it comes crunch time. Because those two aren't leaders and don't feed off each other enough to carry this team to a chip. Get a new face of the team (preferably a vet) and a new head coach. Maybe then we'd have a shot at cosing out on top but until then, it's going to be good regular seasons and then playoff run busts.

This is why they had the most success with coach Udoka who isn't scared to call the players out and holds them accountable. Mazzulla just says this happens in the NBA, no big deal 🤦‍♂️ Brad Stevens and Wyc made the dumbest decision keeping this dude as the head coach.

@@hokagegod8790 I don’t have a team and even if I did that information would be irrelevant to this topic. It’s either chip or bust for the Celtics so that “deep run” shit doesn’t matter if they don’t win. How many “deep runs” can a team make and not win until something drastic changes? Y’all been making “deep runs” for 4-5 years now with nothing to show for it.
@hokagegod8790

@@BasketballHistorian it is relevant because you’re speaking of a place of ignorance and most stars don’t win by 27 so all the experience and loss will us once Tatum is in his prime
@BasketballHistorian
@BasketballHistorian 4 ай бұрын
@@hokagegod8790 Ok Brodie that’s cool and all but the talent that the Celtics have is more than other championship teams yet they lose the same way every year so non of their problems get fixed. Y’all coach is not “championship good”, the style of basketball doesn’t generate good open looks, they let Austin Reaves get 30 and got blown out by 25+ when playing against contenders recently so the defense isn’t good enough either And the worse thing is that Jaylen Brown gets paid $304 Million and can only give you 8 points against a below average team without their 2 best players. So Tatum could be in his prime right now and it wouldn’t change anything cause the Boston Celtics team, their offensive and defensive game-plan doesn’t work in the playoffs (cause they don’t win a chip. It didn’t work) But I’m ignorant for saying getting waxed on your home floor by the 23-24 Lakers (who are missing their 2 best players) while your team is fully healthy is fucking embarrassing. Then so be it.

this is actually the problem with the entire top of the east... celtics, bucks and sixers are loaded with talent and all have top 10 players in the league but will lose to the mentally tougher (as they did last year to miami) teams like knicks or heat (or perhaps even cavs) as long as the refs don't bail them out (which is highly probably unfortunately)... they are all mentally weak failures... i think i would take nuggets and clippers over any of them

Too much is being made over these three C's home losses in recent weeks. The defending champs in Denver came to town and won a hard fought 2pt victory. That is not a bad loss in any sense. Then the Clippers,who've been the hottest team over the past month plus,came in and smacked the Celtics just the same as Boston had previously smacked the Clippers in LA. Mirror image games with both road teams winning big. LA's defense was stifling and that game alone shows just how good the Clippers really are when fully healthy,one of a handful of teams that has a legit shot at winning a Finals. This loss to the Lakers was a complete letdown by a C's team that,if we're being honest here,likely heard that AD & LBJ were no go's for this game and just assumed a win was all but a formality. Instead LA came out and took control from the first tip until final buzzer. They outplayed Boston on both ends and Austin Reaves showed everyone why his name keeps getting asked for in every Lakers trade proposal,he's a real keeper. As a C's fan the only game that worried me was this loss to the LAL because it was clearly one where Boston should have won. This team,like many other contenders, is going to have outcomes like that Laker game every so often, it happens. Choose any other Finals Contender in recent years and check their previous games played and you'll find plenty of games that the Contender lost to much lesser talented teams. Again,it happens.

Tatum is not mentally Tough. He is suppose to be the leader of this team but, he can’t lead men. And you can’t if you’re not built to LEAD which, Tatum is not. Tatum has never took personal responsibility for a loss. He always says we didn’t play well when the truth is he didn’t play well. Tatum will never have that mentality Toughness it takes to win a championship. If they do it’ll be because of the other players on this team. It won’t be because of Tatum who is suppose to be the best player on this team.

Celtics are shit. Chucks right. They are the definition of a modern Era team. They aren't going anywhere. Second round exit at most. The only way they have any shot of making it through the second round is if other teams are littered with injuries. I miss the 90s nba. All these 3s and 140 point games are trash to watch. Chuck is 100% right. Good teams are ready for big games

Well mazzula you should be embarrassed how you been coaching, udoka got a lesser team to the finals. This current team has twice the fire power and they consistently play down to the competition. On the other hand it's obvious lebron and AD are holding this Lakers team back haha . Honestly the day after lebron criptic tweets and post game comments "people do their job" or whatever he said and then is a healthy scratch for Lakers vs Celtics? What bigger draw does NBA have then Celtics vs Lakers and yet this time every year it's the same conversation "lebron needs help, what trades can they make to get lebron help, blah blah blah" this team was in the western conference last year right? They did win the in season tournament right? I swear lebron and KD should just go play for the Globetrotters and beat the Washington generals twice a week.

C’s need the Refs help, Sunday’s game against the Heat was yet another example after years of the same nonsense. Refs call fouls on the Heat but let the C’s play… thereby nurturing the Heat. Then come playoff time, C’s must cope with not getting the calls and then whine too much!
