Chuck E Cheese Columbus Ohio

Here's footage of Chuck E Cheese at the Mascway Columbus, OH location. Taken October 13th, 2001, so yes, this was around the time when America was still in shock after the horrific events of 9/11. However, the footage shows that a trip to Chuck E Cheese was no less special than before or after the aftershocks of 9/11. This footage shows ONLY the showroom and you'll see some familiar phase 2 decorations here and there. On here is some of I Can Help, very few footage of Boogie Shoes, Do You Love Me, about half of Havin a Party, and of course....Birthday Star. You may notice some issues with the animatronics; Chuck's mouth did not work that day, Helen winks instead of blinks, Jasper's spotlight is off, and some of Munch's Keyboard's lights remain on. Because I played this tape over and over again, the sound started to muffle. I tried restoring this footage as best as I could using original MP3 soundtracks to the songs. As the video continues, notice the crowds getting smaller as the place "closed early" for a private party (possibly by a worker who knew these people), yet somehow, we WEREN'T chased out the door. Originally opened as Showbiz Pizza around 1982, it became Chuck E Cheese in the early 90''s. Sadly, it did not survive "the coof" and was closed as part of reorganization from Chapter 11.

This was my childhood showbiz where i attended many birthdays and had my 6th here(1986)So many memories and I'm glad that it's taken care of and still well intact

@@CECColumbusOH I have an old video of my Showbiz birthday party in January 86. I haven’t seen it (the videotape itself) in almost 20 years. It might be buried somewhere in my moms house in Ohio. I still can’t believe that place is gone. It lasted so long despite the Eastland area dwindling for years

Yeah, the stage was in mild disrepair for most of the 2000s. It was only around 2010 that the new tech was brought in. He had that show working flawlessly in under 2 years. It was amazing to see happen in real time

Uh, he better; that kid is me! I took interest in ALL the characters, not just Jasper. Munch was my favorite, then Chuck E, then Helen. I saw Jasper a few times and Munch only once at the old Bridgeville location.

I just went to chuck e cheese and like 50 people were all seeing the animatronics perform, which I've never seen that much people pay attention to the animatronics and there songs.. like 10 kids went to the animatronics ( it was a TWO stage, and they weren't scared they were touching them) and some even were like "mommy, look at them sing!". So CEC is wrong when they say that "the kids stopped looking at the animatronics years ago"

I think its because when I went recent years, they have the volume really low to where you cant even hear them, the lights in the room are really bright, they dont dim anymore, so the stage doesnt stand out.

A lot has to do with them removing the showroom wall so that it’s hard to hear and enjoy the show over the game room noises

That's because the walkaround Chuck came out then and back then they actually try to make the characters look alive by having the Chuck animatronic hidden whenever it was time for the walkaround Chuck to come out.
