ShowBiz Pizza Time, Inc. wanted Aaron Fechter to sign away his rights to the Rock-afire Explosion characters to them but he wouldn't budge, hence the slow but painful process called "Concept Unification" that involved replacing all the Rock-afire Explosion characters with those specific to Chuck E. Cheese's (hence the new title "Mr. Munch's Make-Believe Band"), and the eventual end of the ShowBiz Pizza brand itself, which was completed in 1992-93.

You can see in the art how Mr. Munch and Jasper have the PTT design, and Pasqually has the PTT body but got the eyes and mustache different. And Chuck have the design of the Showbiz Era

what is that supposed to mean? this rebrand was actually successful. until around the mid-2000s when the company lost its quality in the entertainment department and threw away their animatronic shows.

@@hotpinkkiller it means that both rebrands were advertised as a new and exciting refresh but it had an effect on the hardcore fans. Several rethemes were considered and both Rock Afire and Splash Mountain characters were removed from advertising and merchandise before the actual removal.

@@christhejedimaster1885 I still dont under your statement of “Disney should have learned from this before retheming a ride.” Concept unification actually benefitted SPT/CEC as a company and lead to the best era of CEC/SPP. I don’t even really like the rock-afire and I’m glad MMBB was able to exist. These so called “diehard fans” didn’t seem to care back in the 90s when CU actually occurred. I’d rather something be rethemed than removed entirely. I think this whole point is just a lack of understanding things can change. Change is natural, and unavoidable. If you dont like MMBB, that’s fine. But you can’t discredit the company’s success during this era and the magical experience CEC was at this point in time. Many people grew up with the CU 3 stage. I’ll take it a step further and say, I don’t like 2.0, much at all. But, I know it has to at least somewhat benefitted CEC as a company. This goes back to what I was saying before, whether we like it or not, change is necessary, and it’s going to happen. Change cant be labeled as inherently bad just because it’s “not the old thing”. it’s the impact the change has. And if the impact is overwhelmingly positive, like CU was, you can’t just echo chamber the rant of “Oh but it’s new and because it replaced the old it’s bad!”.
