My aunt worked with her. She’s a good activist but apparently a bit of a psychopath in the community of those who study primates. They usually avoid her if they can help it. Diane Fossy was the other one people avoided. Great work, but they were/are a bit too involved. They’re sorta seen as creepy and obsessed, not invested and interested

When I was younger and into such things, I was taught there are many paths to enlightenment, meditation, pranayama, asanas, prayer, dedication to one's dharma. Those who were sought out for wisdom were solitary individuals who spent a lifetime gaining insight through serene contemplation. Regardless of whether or not those instructors were genuine, their countenance always exhibited an inner peace which was construed as one of illumination. Following one's dharma, a central theme of the Hindu Gita, be it warrior, teacher, laborer, etc., commitment to your life's path, remaining steadfast, avoiding doubt, is the way. I don't know if all of that is or isn't an illusion but Jane Goodall's face is the most genuine example, which I've ever seen, of someone who has achieved inner peace through their life's work. She is a special woman!

When we see pictures or videos of such emotional moments, we unconsciously empathize with one of the characters. At first I found myself at one with both Jane and the chimpanzee. But after a while, I don't know why, I felt that it wasn't Jane, but that chimpanzee, overwhelmed with joy at getting back to the forest, his familiar environment, and the eternal feeling of returning gratitude and unalloyed love to a benevolent friend, an intense feeling of happiness that people only long for has captivated my mind as well. Desire seems to have engulfed my mind at this moment. Immediately, an intense pain of not getting the feeling has pierced in my chest like an arrow. It seems that at this point in my life, it is not to be a great and high value person like Jane, but to be blessed by mother nature and the companionship of true friends are the most desirable things in my life, nothing else. I am truly blessed to take this opportunity to know the latent desire hidden in my subconscious by only watching a few minutes of a video. Many thanks to the friend who uploaded the video.
