What a time you guys must of had!! You know there’s nothing like a good hunting trip with a great buddy that’s got the same mindset. Wind rain snow and fog doesn’t seem to matter when you’re having that much fun hunting but that makes going back to a warm camp and a good meal of salt fish and potatoes that much more enjoyable. Great hunt!! Thanks for taking us along!! Take care and God bless!!👍🏻

Super video here we hunt Ruffed Grouse, when I was working in the north we would get Spruce Grouse - not as tastey as the Ruffed.
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
I agree 100% David. When I do hunt spruce grouse, it’s early in the fall. Once the snow comes they feed primarily on the spruce tips and thus the taste changes dramatically

Super hunting trip Chuck ! lots of birds nothing better exept no Willow haha my Frankie would be pissed at me lol , what # shot ya using and that A5 is a sweet gun i had used one for a little while beautiful gun to nice to take out hunting so i traded off on a Citori o/u i was heavy into trap back then , cant believe how close you guys got to that hare !
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
We were using #7.5 shot primarily. Just the cheapest ones we could find at Walmart for 100 in a box. I just bought the A5 and am loving it! I had a browning Gold for the last 20 years but that one had seen it’s day and failing quite a bit. Ps. Willow was pretty happy upon my return home!

What type of ammo/choke did you use for this hunt , and I also have a browning A5 exact same as yours , was wondering if your A5 won’t shoot the cheaper shells to? Thanks
@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Improved cylinder for choke. Can’t recall exactly, but I believe it was either #6 or #8 shot. Mine cycled the cheaper shells on this trip. However, it was brand new at the time. I’ve owned semi-autos for about 30 years, and what you’re describing about the cheaper shells happens to all of them. Especially when the gun gets a little dirty, or it’s cold outside. It’s gears for larger (waterfowl) shells, so the cheaper shells can only just cut it
