5:58 You're losing some HP from your stirrup dragging in the water. Would it be as good if you reinstall it rotated 90 degrees? That would reduce the drag a lot. Or raise it up out of the water?

Yeah, I think when I designed it, I thought it would be up out of the water. thanks for watching.

Thanks to you I think I found my next project. How would you go about taging and title for a homemade pontoon

I am so glad to hear it... Please consider joining my facebook group "Homemade Barrel Boats" . As for a title and registration, I went to the DMV and said homemade boat. It took about 30 minutes and about $32, but was a piece of cake. Thanks so much for watching.

The last owner had the tell tail to the front of the motor because he was possibly running it in weeds. You may have to flush the cooling system out to get it running cool.
@chud3275 жыл бұрын
That is a good idea, I think I got it running cool now, but may still want to flush it out. thanks for watching.

You have to get a speedometer app on your phone and tell us how fast that beast goes. 👍🏼

Downloaded one on the way to the river, but the motor wanted to overheat so I did run it long. As so as I get it to run cool, we will get that speed for you. Thanks so much for watching.

I absolutely love what you do! I've even started my own pontoon 😁 I've wanted to build my own for years and your videos have motivated me to just go for it. I do have a channel of my own if you're interested in checking it out. Sorry my first 6 videos are without any editing software ☹️ but I'm getting there. I'm interested in any feedback you can give. Also have you ever considered different controls for your motors? Just so you don't have to sit on the floor. I've seen a few modifications of people doing diy foot controls. Once again I love your content keep it up man👍

I just found your KZbin site and I love the 55 gallon drum pontoon you made. I have a question. The original gas motor you had on that pontoon. Was it made from a lawn mower motor or another motor like a lawn mower engine? I ask because I saw another person's KZbin page where he tool a broken 8 HP outboard motor and replaced the engine that was no longer working with a lawn mower engine had had fixed. His mounting of the engine to the outboard motor footing as quite crude and yours looks much better. If this was a rebuilt engine, to you have any video of how you rebuilt the engine? Awesome job on the boat. I hope to be able to build something similar in the near future.

Mine was trying to run hot, but I think I got that fixed. The motor mount boards were digging in like parachutes, felt like it wanted to get up on plane, but couldn't. I need some kind of angle under there to keep it from catching / dragging in the water. Maybe next weekend I can do a real speed check. Thanks for watching.

I was about to get up on plane, but the kicker mount was acting like a parachute... Then the motor was trying to run hot, so I didn't really get a great test done. I think I have the overheating fixed and will try to get in the water again soon. Thanks so much for watching.
