The giants and big heads are a deep-rooted tradition in Spain, the first records of giants in Madrid occur in the Corpus Christi processions in the Late Middle Ages. The Comparsa de Gigantes y Cabezudos de Madrid left for the first time on May 13, 1967, coinciding with the San Isidro festivities.
The giants reach a height of between 3.5 and 3.9 m and a weight of between 25 and 55 kg.
The parade begins in the corrala of the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, the corralas are a type of house characteristic of old Madrid, their design presents a patio or corral as a central element and on the different floors we find a balcony corridor with access to the small households.
